Oh wow... You're unironically a Tito fan...
Dude, this wasn't before WWII, this was after the end of the war. Around 175,000 people whose families had lived there for a couple hundred years and spoke German for historical reasons were ethnically cleansed from Yugoslavia.
A few hundred thousand people had to flee the country and walk to Germany or otherwise make their way to places like North America.
Sure Tito wasn't Hitler, but he definitely walked in his footsteps.
Maybe you don't cook enough then, because slightly burnt and crispy cheese is what I'm looking for in a baked pasta dish.
Land value.
In my neighborhood, if that was on one of the original lots (100'x90'), it would sell for around $800k.
The trend in my city is to take one of these lots with old crappy houses (or even not so old crappy), tear down the house, sever the lot into two, and build 2 modern McMansions to sell for $2mill each.
At this point, the GOP is just cartoonishly evil. Like, given a choice between two options, it will actively pick the one that harms the most people.
The problem with this kind of thinking is that the the private sector wants to extract the maximum profits possible.
Over time it has become clear that this does not lead to efficiency and low prices. Instead it leads to efficiency and higher prices and higher profits.
Services for the public good should not be profit centers. If you can't see that from US health care and Texas power utilities, then I don't even know what to say anymore.
