Realistically, what would happen if ICE agents came in the middle of the night and a person were to completely gun them down?
The videos I've seen the ICE agents are in street clothes. They aren't wearing uniforms, no badges, nothing to indicate they're official agents at all.
If these people show up at night, I'd say open fire. They look like any other gang member.
But if you want to renounce your US citizenship you still have to jump through a shitton of red tape and pay $2,350 USD - and they STILL might deny the request to renounce.

In reality, she was probably on an expired tourist visa in the US, working to pay rent. This is against the rules.
She tried to do it in Canada, they said nope.
On return to the US they probably figured out she'd been in the USA on an expired tourist visa.
If this is the case, she is 100% in the wrong in this instance.
That said, the US should have let her fly back home instead of locking her in a cage and treating her like an animal. It's not like she was a violent criminal or anything.

A belief system that we are better than everyone else
I agree with much of what you've said, but I honestly think this is one point that is behind the downfall. America is basically apathy and hubris - no need to do anything because "we're #1".
Even though personally people are suffering, Americans still don't do anything in a large scale to fix the situation and actively vote against their interests.
I think the only thing that will save the US is what is happening now, things get REALLY bad, and hopefully a rebellion that rises up and cuts out the rot.
