  • those ancestors may not have been given a choice whether or not to come here

That's like saying the Holocaust is just a issue of unpaid labor. Rape and abuse for generations is a more appropriate description.

Slavery is literally a crime against humanity. While we can't punish the perpetrators, reparations are actually a good way to apologize. Plus it was literally promised to freed slaves.

Native Americans get sovereign land and no taxes. The Government of Germany literally pays Holocaust victims. The US government can pay descendants of victims of US slavery.

  • Of course you can't close it with pending transactions. Pending transactions can be reversed or changed. It's another legal issue. That's not really a bad thing.

Also, why did you get an account at a bank with no branches? If you want that, you can just get a credit union account.

  • At that point you have to complain about it to your credit card provider. They are literally taking your money. 30 days is not acceptable, let alone 120 days.

I complain once to the merchant and if the money isn't going to be refunded soon, I call the credit card company. Try not to threaten or call again. Literally just escalate at the sign of problems.

  • Guaranteed the Justice Department got everything in order before raiding a former president's residence. This is just adding to his many public humiliations.

Don't try to sue the Justice Department. They literally don't bring cases that they can lose. Plus they're all top lawyers who can triple their salary elsewhere. Even the FBI is afraid of them.

I know one of these guys. They're very nice but will rip your throat out (rhetorically). They could convict you of a felony and you would end up agreeing with them.

  • Betting markets are not good at predicting outcomes. They are good at making money. Book makers just balance the bets coming in.

Imagine an event that has a perfect 50/50 chance of happening, but one side has more people and money betting on it. Book makers just use the odds offered to balance the money so they always make 10%. That means they don't offer 50/50 odds.

  • Closing a bank account is as easy as legally possible. They are already highly regulated, and there's a lot of paperwork to protect you from having your account closed without your permission. You can literally go into a bank if you want help. That's not the same thing as a gym at all.

  • I have good news for you. You can just tell your credit card provider that you tried to cancel, but couldn't. They will just cancel it for you. It's a bit of a strong-arm tactic, but it works.

Whenever you need to cancel a gym, try this. They tell you that you need to come in? Nope, not acceptable or legal.

  • DOT’s rule also puts an end to airline runarounds by requiring refunds to be automatic, prompt, in the original form of payment, and for the full amount paid.

This is perfect. I just had to chase a few travel companies for refunds they owed me. The cancellations were the fault of the companies, not mine.

Every single one of them requires you to call some hidden phone number who tells you to download an app, and part of your refund is always disputed. It literally takes hours just to figure out how to complain.

They take your money in 5 seconds, but give it back in "5 to 7 business days".

  • I was wondering who the hell "LTC Gabbord" is. Then I realized you used Tulsi Gabbard as an example to follow. That alone makes this comment a bit weird, since she's kind of cookoo.

No, you can't competently serve in the military and also be in Congress. That's ridiculous. They barely allowed absentee voting during COVID. How are you going to vote on bills (let alone research them, lobby other representatives, propose them, etc.) when you are deployed to a warzone? If you can't be deployed you aren't really in the military, are you?

What is this weird fascination with the rank VP Candidate Walz retired with? This isn't any type of criticism at all. It's common to retire at a lower rank, and doesn't mean you didn't achieve the highest one. The only thing it affects is the pension check he gets and other benefits.

The man was in the service for 24 years. He gave up a slightly better pension to run for office. I think that shows he's willing to put the needs of others ahead of his own. In 1989, he earned the title of Nebraska Citizen-Soldier of the Year. Literally shut the fuck up.

  • Uh, you can do all of that with toilet paper. And tampons are useful for bloody noses, which teenage boys get sometimes. This is a weird distraction from actual issues and anyone who cares about this is probably a nut.

  • Russia: Spends months trying to capture a random city 25 miles from their border. Ukrainian defenses were somehow "missing" (sabotage). Stalemate.

Ukraine: Spends days capturing a specific important natural gas objective. Russian defenses are also missing (lazy). Success.

  • Nah. Even if you are in a safe state, vote. Even if you are in a state run by weirdos, vote. Literally vote.

It worked in 2020. trump had more votes than in 2016 and he lost by even more. January 6th had no chance of success because it was obvious who won. Taking the capitol building doesn't mean anything.

The supreme court doesn't even mean anything without the consent of the governed. The British won the War of 1812 and literally burned the White House to the ground. They still had to leave because the US is so big that it's literally ungovernable without consent of the population.
