Has exercise helped your mental health?
  • Exercise helped me, but didn't work by itself.

    Adding therapy helped more, but didn't work by itself.

    Adding meds helped more, but I don't lean on them alone.

    Which is just to say, it's not either/or. :-)

    That said, I started going on long nature hikes, usually 4-5 miles but up to 17 sometimes. Download podcasts and music for offline access. Later, my therapist suggested taking notes after my walks, about how I felt / what was on my mind -- now I do it more often than not, and it's been helpful too.

    ...which is to say, let's not clutch our pearls over jokes, especially those made by communities that are often very scarred by religious abuse. "Punching up" isn't the problem here.

  • Lots of people get by without wearing glasses too, but that doesn't mean that my blind eyes don't need them.

    Lots of people get by without a therapist, but that doesn't mean my crumbling mental health doesn't need one.

    Everyone needs different things to lean on -- don't shame others for having their own needs, even if you don't understand what it's like to be in their head. :-)

  • I think you have the vaccine part backwards?

    In this case, the sweeping 64-page bill also dealt with city and county governance and banned COVID-19 vaccine requirements for public workers in Missouri.

    The court struck down the law that banned mandates.
