Thing is most likely you wouldn’t be in an afterlife or be able to see anything or anyone, you would just cease to exist and you would be doing just as much experiencing and thinking as you did before you were born. So being remembered is a way of extending your existence by living in the minds of those you impacted in your life and knowing you made a difference, that it was worth you being born.
I thought they were dancing in that photo for a second
Thing is that’s how slurs are born isn’t it? All slurs started as descriptive words for groups of people but when enough people use them with disdain or malice for long enough, suddenly the word becomes irredeemable and it can no longer be said without having all that hate automatically added on intentional or not.
Even the n word would have started out as a regional term simply for black people (hear me out). If you look at the word or the way it’s pronounced it’s really just a mangled or incorrectly pronounced version of the word negro which is simply the Spanish/latin word for the colour black. But because of the people that said it, in the way that they said it, in the region they said it, at the time that they said it, it can no longer be said lest you be magically transported back to the 1800’s with a whip in your hands.
So even though cisgender is not currently a slur, if it continues to follow the path of all slurs before it, one day it will be
Yeah you can see the effect even with something simple like the words “Mexicans” or “Jews” or “Men”, depending on the heat and spin you put on the word it can either just be a descriptive word in a benign sentence or it can have a silent “those dirty fucking” just before it. So I can definitely see how some people have been using it as a slur but context matters and probably shouldn’t be blanket moderated
They want you to stop being poor and get better furniture if you want a big tv
Several and they all sucked, acting like they are the only ones in the space, being loud, obnoxious, and arrogant
Most of the other countries with problems don’t have their citizens walking around loudly declaring as a matter of average discourse that they are the “greatest country in the world”.
Because China couldn’t do the same during their invasion to deal with the survivors while the smoke clears after the revolution haha
Open source and free yes, better? I don’t know how you can say that considering everything plex allows via their plugins (recreate your own audible library) and also the more professional polish of their UI
I use brave which is a chromium browser with all the tracking stuff turned off and a few ad blockers baked in. It also has some vpn and crypto wallet stuff built in but it’s not in your face so you can just ignore it.
This ad platform shouldn’t affect brave right? Should just be another thing the brave team are able to automatically switch off when the browser updates?
I’ll just keep stealing current day content for the best of both worlds
Which client are you using? I can see the option to block instances in the settings of memmy for iOS
A good place to read about all the apps that end in arr is their wiki called servarr
They provide setup instructions and descriptions as well as downloaders and scripts. They also each have a GitHub repository and webpage with screenshots and more flashy promo material so you can get a good idea of what they look like and how they work.
Essentially they all automatically go out and download any movies or shows you’ve told them to look out for, format the files and place them neatly in folders that your media manager like plex or jellyfin can then make available for you to watch on the client devices on phones, computers, smart tvs, chrome casts, Apple TVs, everything really
Never used kodi so don’t know if this pipeline would work for you considering you might like the ability to stream from pirated sources on demand. But if you are ok with downloading your movies and shows to a local repository that you can then access from any device anywhere in the world. Then I suggest using prowlarr, radarr, sonarr, qbittorrent, overseerr, and plex media server respectively. It sounds like a lot of tools but each one plugs into the other so they all overlap and handle different parts of the whole pipeline.
If you wanted more general info about what each one does then let me know
I had no idea this happened, just saw a bunch of people talking about Emily and how great they are with Linux and wondering why no one has mentioned Anthony and when they had a new host join, thanks for the context.

Better?
Maybe they took it away because it infringed on the rights of Americans to have guns that would work on him /s
Fun fact this is actually the Rhine river that runs sort of ⅔ of the way through Düsseldorf, similar to the Thames in London or the Seine in Paris.
The other bank is much more residential and a little high end so it’s not really a gathering place for the population, whereas the bank shown in the picture is 2 blocks from a tram line that runs parallel to the river and runs into the heart of the CBD making it an extremely approachable body of water and pedestrian strip.
On the weekends, the city holds public events to draw people to gather on this bank like food fares, carnivals, concerts. It’s always packed on the weekends and generates a shit ton of foot traffic for all the pubs and restaurants in adjacent streets.
I had no idea all this was covered in highways just a few decades ago, making the city more walkable was an amazing choice. If you’ve never been to Düsseldorf before or don’t know anything about it, it is definitely one of the highlights of Germany once you’ve had your fill of all the war sites. Extremely liveable city without feeling overcrowded, and just a stones throw from the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France.
