LAN party from 2003
  • It would depend on the event hall. If it was in a warehouse like hall and in spring or fall, sure you'd keep your shirt on.

If it was in a event hall with a lower ceiling, carpet on the floor and just some form of insulation it'd get crazy hot really fast. Because on top of thousands of PC's there'd be thousands of people too. In summer it'd be even crazier. I definitely remember going shirtless at some of those lans.

  • Every damn day
  • Remember that violent protests were used in Europe to establish our rights. It's incredibly weird looking to the US from the outside. You have the right to bear arms, specifically to oppose tyranny, yet nobody seems to do so.

  • Can’t stand it when they do that
  • I tend to avoid grocery stores who do that. But in Belgium at least it's a known strategy that half the grocery stores use to make you spend more time looking for stuff.

Luckily there's also a store that avoids it because they want to save time of their employees and customers. So if use their app to make your list and select the location you're going to, the app will arrange your list to be in the order you encounter everything if you follow the lines on the floor.

  • While complaining at the start that the car is not working perfectly and working to improve it to a race winning config with his race engineer. Both Hamilton and Norris collapsed under pressure, but Max is consistently pumping out high performance.

It really still amazes me that none of the other drivers can come close.

  • "Twy Edge Pwetty Pwease"
  • It does actually ask you if you want to sync those files if you're installing it on W10. It's a bit opaque in explaining the consequences in the simple wizard that allows you to enable or disable it by slider, but that's why it's a wizard.

People who say it doesn't probably just clicked next, next, next... Had a user complain about it too. Than a month later when we replaced his laptop with a W11 he was quite happy with it.

It definitely has a very positive use case for the large majority of users.

  • Winner of the Bahrain GP
  • Resisting the team call was dumb, imo, but that's ofcourse debatable. I don't agree with your perspective but I think it's valid and not that weird.

The part I'm referring to as a bad look if he wants to switch teams is him dive-bombing and brake checking his teammate after the race had ended. No team will want anything to do with that.

  • Winner of the Bahrain GP
  • It was a predefined strategy. Combined with the delay in radio messages it came a lot earlier at a time when the sofas weren't already gone.

And regardless of whether it was a good call or not his response after the race is not a good look if he wants to move a bigger team where they need to know that people can be trusted to execute a team strategy.

  • I just have, so adjusting my opinion accordingly. This clearly is abuse of power and inappropriate behaviour in the workplace that goes beyond an inappropriate but not abusive attempt to have a romantic relationship with a coworker.

It's ridiculous RB thinks he can stay in his position.

  • I don't necessarily agree that the screenshots shown here would warrant being fireable. Though I'm willing to change my opinion if he does this with all his subordinates or there's some additional information that shows him being more coercive. Or some extra explanation of how my perspective is wrong, which it could be.

A reprimand would be in order though. And ofcourse his wife is entitled to being extremely mad and dissapointed.

  • Introducing Sudo for Windows
  • Command line stuff on Windows (server) is in a pretty decent state now, imo. It's not perfect but more and more is manageable with powershell. It took some time to really grok that you're basically always working with objects but I'm a big fan and now quite dislike having to deal with just "text" output when I do something in Linux. (Probably also because I need to do a lot less in it so I'm not used to it as much)

Personally again I also like the naming scheme much more than how it's done in bash. If I need to do something I don't know I can search the command by using logical words. E.g. I want to change the properties of a service but don't know the command by heart I can use

    Get-Command service

And I'll get a list of all commands that contain the word service.

When it comes to admin privileges you simply have the privileges of the account you used to start the session, which has its' own dangers I suppose since it requires you to maintain account hygiene yourself.

  • The car looks ok but the crazy dude they allowed in front of a microphone to talk to Naomi talks like he's on a 10 day coke binge and believes we should be grateful for this opportunity to get into this pyramid scheme opportunity.

  • High energy prices direct us to lowest energy usage since 1995[nl]

Interesting to see it really seems like everyone across the board used less and less energy.

What did you all change? Any specific tools or tricks?

Personally I didn't even change my heating level but just used the timers a lot more with sharper cutoffs. And I did use smart plugs between my media appliances and my pc to make sure they are off when I leave the house, as well as being less casual about turning off the lights in rooms that I'm not in. Compared to 2019 (so before more WFH) that's like a 20% savings on gas, and 15% on electricity for me.

    Fryday Friday

It's friday already so let's start discussing something that hasn't been done here and discuss a couple of important questions. (or whatever else you want it's the chat topic after all)

    • What day is the correct day to eat fries from the frituur and why is it friday.
    • What do you order at the frituur?
    • Why are people who use frikandel weird and people who say lange hamburger clinically insane? Civilized folk use curryworst after all.

Do I push through the main quest or complete a lot of sidequests in D4

I know it's most likely a beginner question but it's what I am I suppose.

For extra context, I generally have about 6-10 hours to spend to game per week and I find I do enjoy the main quest but after spending a couple days only doing that it feels like I'm missing out by ignoring some of the side quests.

I only have 1 charachter so far and it's lvl35 at around the start of ACT2.

Will I lose out on powerlevel if I just try to get through the main quest first for now and look into doing sidequests afterwards? Am I making my life harder if I do sidequests first?

Right now I think I would like to be able to participate in the seasonal with a new class to try out, since it is still an expensive game and I want to feel like I experience more than just one class.

So who else is going. I'm too old to meet up with strangers. I used to be with it, but than they changed what it is. It'll happen to you!

What are you going to see and what gem do you recommend?
