  • Sometimes hope is all we've got.

  • Yes, because it's not going to be nearly as catastrophic as it sounds. What we need is a real world ender.

  • Sure I'd rather face off against one lion than one tiger, but with lions it's not gonna be just one.

  • I don't think Lemmy is the right sample to ask this question. Definitely a lot of gamers and tech enthusiasts here.

Personally I avoid doing computer tasks on my phone if I can at all help it. Trying to accomplish tasks on a tiny mobile screen is just frustrating and limited. Have both desktop and laptop that I prefer to use.

  • Bucatini is nice. Or pappardelle.

  • Uhh meanwhile I'm like "can I get a lot less spice right now?"

  • What's better is blocked subs...or blocking whole instances.

  • Gonna have to remember that line for the next time I'm at a party

  • I don't know if I have a Ned Kelly or a Garibaldi. It probably depends on how long it's been since I cleaned it up.

  • I've always heard the circle beard called a goatee too, but I think I heard Bill Simmons, of all people, mention that goatee is supposed to refer to a beard that hangs down from your chin, like a goat. It makes sense as an etymology. The circle beard is essentially a goatee + mustache.

  • Getting an account on a big general tracker like TorrentLeech is a pretty good foot in the door. They do open signups frequently. There's also IPtorrents and their whole network, although they're pretty looked down upon by the private trackers community. If you want to start working towards invites to more selective trackers, MAM, OPS, and RED all have an interview process. MAM is by far the easiest one to build a ratio on, although note that they do not like to be thought of as a stepping stone.

  • Not exactly a new thing, but as someone with tinnitus from too many concerts...take care of your ears, kids.

  • The specific devices impacted by this are pretty old (I think only the first and second gen ones? So at latest 2009), so honestly I doubt they're very worried about it.

  • The liberal tea party was basically the Occupy movement, which...fell apart because there wasn't really any agreement on what Occupy actually wanted.

  • "Lack of urgency" - I mean, they control zero houses of congress or branches of government, so what exactly is expected from them? I actually think it would be a mistake to blow their load by raising the alarm too early. You can't make every single thing trump does require an urgent response. He's gonna do worse. Pick your battles.

Not that I don't think the Dems haven't had massive problems of leadership, but most of it seems to come down to "leftists, progressives, and liberals all kind of hate each other but they all need to vote the same way to keep Republicans out of power." Coalition parties are hard and forming a new viable party is nearly impossible. Or at least I think so, prove me wrong.

  • I kind of get the impression that every time Vance leaves a room full of other people, someone inevitably says "what a dipshit" as soon as he's out of hearing range.

  • You can still use calibre to sideload onto them. Where you get the books is another issue.

  • Ever been on /r/lounge? If you have you've probably got a pretty good idea of what to expect from these subs.

  • I'm unclear on the exact parameters of it, but there's an issue open for it. SJW is my home instance, so maybe that has something to do with it?
