Day one and done
  • I specifically buy easy dinner stuff while.im out shopping for the same reason. I spent an hour getting food so now imma take it easy and eat this mac and chicken strips from the deli.

  • Testing request: Fedora 40 on NVIDIA RTX 3000 series GPUs
  • They're both around $330 where I'm at. The performance jump from my 1070ti to 6700xt is around 30% and 38% to a 6750xt. I figure the better option was a newer card with the extra vram. Either one seems to be a good upgrade for me.

  • Testing request: Fedora 40 on NVIDIA RTX 3000 series GPUs
  • Thats good to hear. Ive been hearing that Nivida has gotten better in Linux but i was still leaning towards amd even if price to performance isnt super great with the card im looking at.

I like to game at 1440 at 144hz so i feel like a 7600xt would work fine but its good to hear a more personal experience especially since you mentioned KDE since I was planning on installing Fedora with KDE.

  • Making cement is very damaging for the climate. One solution is opening in California
  • I've seen some cool stuff about heat batteries. Very interesting implementations of old technology.

Yea I wasnt sure if this was something new or not, but I'd agree that carbon capture isnt nearly as interesting as some of the new battery storage or renewable energy tech thats being developed.

  • Making cement is very damaging for the climate. One solution is opening in California
  • Fortera intercepts carbon dioxide exhaust from the kilns where cement is made and routes it back in to make additional cement. In its first effort at commercial scale, the technology is being added to a CalPortland facility in Redding, California, one of the largest cement plants in the western U.S. It opens Friday.

Fortera’s process sucks the carbon dioxide out and pipes it into a machine where it is turned into a solid. Its technology works at around 1,800°F (1,000°C), which requires less energy and emits less carbon.

When the captured carbon dioxide is mixed with calcium oxide, it turns into a kind of limestone that becomes cement-like when wet. This product, which Fortera calls ReAct, is blended with other ingredients to make concrete.

Fortera uses a 15% blend of ReAct in concrete because that is all that is allowed under existing industry standards that regulate material strength and durability.

  • Do you think/feel that you are living well? Happily? Embodying your values and dreams? If so, how did this happen?
  • Im pretty happy but due to ADHD im never really satisfied with what i have currently in a sense.

I'm very grateful for my job, my current living situation and my partner but im always looking forward to new projects and stuff that i wanna do. I finish one thing and i really like that and then i move onto the next thing cause i feel like i have to. Just cant sit still for too long.

How it happened is i just got lucky. I got a good family that helped me with a place to live, my buddy helped me get my current job in an IT adjacent position, and i met my gf on tinder when she was just about to leave the app for good.

So yea, just kinda got lucky. I do work hard too and struggled alot with ADHD and other mental health issues before getting diagnosed so im glad things worked out eventually.

  • Laptop opinions? (considering Asus TUF lineup)
  • I think framework laptops are a good investment if the company is still around when you need to repair or upgrade the system.

IMO i think its worth it to go with a framework if you can afford it. Having the ability to not only repair but upgrade components is a game changer and is something im heavily considering for a work/DND machine.

  • Unsmart a smart TV
  • Ah i see, so because its connected to other devices in the sidewalk network, if my neighbor has it hooked up to wifi and mine isnt, it still can connect to the internet.

Yea that sucks. I hate that. I have "smart" TV that i never connected to my wifi cause i use a pc for streaming.

Next thing yknow theres gonna be lte modems in these things that they pay to keep on just to spy on us ffs man.

"How much of my internet bandwidth does Amazon Sidewalk require?"

"Very little. Sidewalk’s connectivity is distinct from your home Wi-Fi. If you choose, however, to enable Sidewalk on your eligible Bridge devices, those devices would use a small amount of internet bandwidth."

This sounds like it still needs your internet to work unless I'm missing something.

  • My boi Sydney.

I dont buy purebreds but him and his brother were given to my family and I took Sydney with me after i was moves out for a few years. Hes the best little idiot. He is a British gray shorthair. Very affectionate.
