  • Windows is shit as well. It has 3 shells and you never know which one is the right one.

Every OS has it's pros and cons 🀷.

  • I think they solve the problem the wrong way.

    My thoughts exactly πŸ‘.

  • Well, it isn't where I live 🀷.

  • A FreeBSD fork focused on security.

  • I'm conversing with this coke dealer online... I don't do coke, but we kinda developed this bond over time... it's weird, I know... don't even get me started on how we ever started conversing, had nothing to do with drugs, lol πŸ˜‚.

Anyway, he started talking the other day, he bought a new bike (bicycle, he's into cycling, healthy lifestyle, doesn't do drugs, etc.), a really nice one, like 1K euros plus. So, he rode it the whole day and he got a flat at the end of the day. So, he started pushing it down the road, right next to a river, and out of nowhere, he just decided to throw it in the river... and he did. I asked him why, he said he could buy a new one tomorrow, doesn't even matter.

I think I'll narrate him this episode of the twilight zone... maybe it'll ring a bell.

  • It doesn't work with any new hardware. 10+ years, yeah, sure.

  • You share the file via URL.

  • Yeah, as always, interest rates are a bitch...

  • One is for all, the other is just the TV. It's probably a remote for a smart box or something, you can program some of the TVs commands on them, like on/off, input switching, etc... so you don't have to juggle with 2 remotes in your hand.

  • a black and red penguin with horns brings forth a pentagram

  • If they just tell you, than that's fine I guess. The problem is, what of those other things happen.

  • LaTeX

  • Bring forth the USB of power!!! (insert evil laugh)

  • Also, the famous legacy BIOS error "Keyboard not found, press F1 to continue".

  • They are in sync with the new maintainers (LM). Their latest build is from 2024.07, which coincides with what LM has in their repos.

  • Yeah, I ran into those as well, but those are for fans with separate windings for different speeds, 1, 2, 3 or low, mid, high. You can't use them for controlling a fan with one winding.

  • You can, I have, it works... good enough. It's not supposed to work in that mode, with chopped up sine waves, but it's not such a big deal if you keep the motor cool, and it will stay cool because it's a fan, a table fan... just mounted on a wall... and the motor is practically exposed, so it will be directly cooled.

Could you share the links of those cheap ones? Are those IR/RF controlled? Cuz I know about these, but they don't have remotes.

EDIT: This is what I had in mind, but this is for LED lighting...

  • I know what I'm doing and I know what I have to mod to make it work properly and within engineering limits (I am an engineer). I just don't have the time to make one myself, I just don't.

It's a synchronous AC motor, about 100W (maybe less, haven't measured it), single phase, 230V~, but what does this have to do with what I asked?

  • Might be cheap for western salaries, I make about 10K euros a year 🀷.

I can mod the controller to not catch fire... I just need a PCB anyway, I don't need the case.

  • Yeah, saw these on AliExpress as well. They're not cheap, they're like $20. I was looking for something fairly simple, like $3 to $5, nothing fancy. I would even be OK with just 3 levels if it was fairly cheap.

Oh well, I guess I'm gonna have to make one myself... simple things are off the table on online shops from what I can see.
