Yeah that's a sad and awesome sequence. But this is (IMHO) much much darker. Berserk.
He was born to a dead mother hanging from a tree, and it went downhill from there...
I think this is from Berserk, but it's been years and I can't quite tell.
Oh, maybe its my deep dive into fear and hunger that makes this scene feel familiar then, as I know Beserk played a HUGE inspiration for Fear and Hunger
Berserk has inspired a lot of media. Worth a read although it is very dark a lot of the time.
