My conservative father brought up something akin to climate change, so I raised one eyebrow and hit him with my best Jon Stewart "do go on...", then he immediately switched gears to how it's climate cycles and blah blah blah, I just laughed and changed the subject so he couldn't bog me down into a political argument on my birthday.

- "climate change isn't real"
- to "ok sure climate change is real but it's not caused by humans"
- and then next is "ok fine it was us but it's too late to prevent it anyway"
- followed by fiery death

I readily admit that I’m a quiet pessimist… but I also hope I’m wrong, and I still think we should do everything possible to combat climate change.
