They sadly often don't fit. And are pretty fragile.

Just wait until you see the connectors that are dual lightning and micro USB.
I've found that they don't always fit properly in all female Micro USB connectors, but they are quite interesting.
How do they fit in the connector?
- Theres a bendy thing in middle with contacts on both sides so they can fit in any normal microusb port
  
  That sounds horrible. These connectors probably break after the fifth time of plugging them in. Apple's idea with Lightning wasn't that bad I guess. But then they were to stubborn and it took them years to put USB C in their phones.
