Willie Fritz, the back-to-back American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year who boasts 31 years of collegiate head coaching experience, has been named the 16th head coach in University of Houston football history, Vice President for Athletics Chris Pezman announced Sunday.
247-121-1 all-time as a head coach
I knew he was successful (even before Tulane), but didn't realize he has the 5th most all-time wins among active FBS head coaches. I think he's a home-run hire for UH.
There's also this press release from today where he was officially introduced.
Wasn't he on the short list for some bogger jobs last year? I know UH is Power 5 now (though in a Super 2 world), but I wonder what made this the move to make.
