There's a reason I run vibe checks before DMing for people

I have a strange type of social anxiety that keeps me from playing multiplayer games online with anyone other than people I know in person because I feel like I'm going to group with one of these weirdos and then get stuck with them following me around or messaging me constantly lol
I know it's an irrational fear, but my brain is dumb.
It's not irrational, you aren't dumb. I feel the same. I still don't want to play with you.
Weirdly I have no problem with being left with people I've never met as long as I know someone and they introduce us. If a friend trusts us together, we can skip the awkward feeling out steps
Block is your friend
But then I'll hurt their feelings 😅
Kid with machete? Totally normal.
Dude in a robe waving guns around? Also normal.
Biting a face into a pancake and wearing it on your face so you can chug maple syrup? Totally understandable. But I would go with the real stuff personally.
BUT! Why does the person in a furry mask have someone tied up under a table in what looks like a basement though? Is this a new sex thing kids are into?
I believe it's called "methusexual"
That isnt just any dude. That dude is Harry fucking Potter
No big deal. I tied like five people to a table at my last SBBQ
I'm looking at the kid with the machete, and feeling pretty judged.
Maybe OP just hates plaid?
Or maybe it's a joke on a kid pretending they're an adult and ready for a TTRPG with adults? Because that is definitely annoying. I haven't played random online pickup games in forever, but I was extremely opposed to playing with kids, for many reasons. Teaching them how to play is one thing - I helped run a DnD club at the school I work at - but that's definitely sharing the hobby rather than games that I actually enjoy for myself.
The meaning of this meme flips if you assume that's the players' characters instead of the players
Yeah, as a DM if these were player characters I would be ecstatic. I always have trouble pulling creative ideas out of my players, even if those creative ideas are borrowed.
tbh best groups i played with were through roll20
playing with your friends, coworkers, etc is worse. people often only join cause 2-3 of us wanna play but they're halfway in mentally and not actually motivated to play.
on roll20 everyone is here to play
Yup. I will take a player rather than a friend to play. A player will become a friend. A friend might not end up as a ayer
Second kid looks like he's a creative thinker that knows what he wants and how to achieve it. Seems like an asset for a D&D group if he's not also an asshole 🤷
These normies wouldn't stand a chance with me
Shit I gotta vibe-check other players as a player; if your table gives me Elder Scrolls racist vibes, I can't be fuckin with it
I mean... its possible to play a character that is racist, but like evil characters I wouldnt trust a first time player doing it.
Even Gimli and Legolas were racists after all
Oh no, I think you misunderstand my meaning-- when I say "elder scrolls racists", I mean like-- have you ever seen how the comment sections for those AI voice Dagoth Ur videos always end up bleeding to a point where people are saying Stormfront-level shit but swapping "jews" for $pickAnElderScrollsSpecies? The people who always seem to have a lazy fill-in for a fantasy race that sounds like it was lifted part and parcel from the things 4channers like to say about existent minorities? That. If your table feels like that, I ain't fuckin with it.
Honestly the bottom right is probably pretty fun to game with, and I think I am the bottom left.
