First off, you have to act like a massive shit-loaf to get perma'ed from Reddit in the first place. Now you're declaring your love for this community because you can't get back into Reddit.
I finally overwrote all my comments and deleted my account. 16 years there, but as soon as I checked the front page this week before deleting, every comment and post was the same old "this" and "take my upvote" and vitriolic hate toward different or uncommon opinions, zero dialogue, such a mess
Got banned for harassing mods because I was asking why I got banned automatically for participating in a different subreddit. As soon as I sent my second request asking why I was banned, I got permabanned.
I'm in the process of deleting my posts in a few accounts in preparation to delete them.
Reddit isn't the same place it was when I first signed up. On so many levels it proceeded to get worse year after year. Shitty mods, paid political bot brigading to drown out discussion, general discourse devolution, innovation decline of generally loved features are some of my biggest complaints of that platform.
Don't get me wrong reddit was always a bit of anarchy, but the best comments somehow managed to rise up. Not so much anymore. Maybe I'm just getting old and some of the comment contents don't interest me in the same way it used to.
I don't mind being part of this community even though some of the sub's have less activity. The activity seems to be of a better quality for the most part imho.
I still have a bunch of accounts but it's actually not a friendly site to use. I remember telling friends about it back in the day and they'd try and use the site, then they'd come back and be like "everyone on that site is an asshole." I'd explain it in some dumb way but it's basically true in essence. I even modded some default subs like 10 years ago and it was the first time I started hating the site.
Even hobby subs had these issues. Like the top post in r/synthesizers would be about some youtube personality and people debating about drama. People who post actual music and productive things don't get upvoted. Saying you liked the "wrong" people got you made fun of. Super trend/hype based as well. I posted asking for advice for a product to buy once, and was heavily discouraged from getting what I thought was the right thing, I got it anyway, and now it's basically a meme as the top recommended product for that purpose on that sub.
Basically moved to forums and discord servers for a lot of interests and it's so much better than reddit. Early 2010s was the golden age for the site back when there'd be those reddit meetups and stuff.
r/fuckyouinparticular did their ban some random person for 3 days to me even though I don't even use my reddit account anymore and just let it sit there taking space on reddots servers
Can't you simply register an account on old.reddit without using email (they ask but you leave it empty) and after changing your IP with your VPN?
Doubt they've fixed that yet.
Not that there's any point. If you're not interacting with bots or copy-pasted comments, you're interacting with morons and people who think internet points matter.
We decided that user input needs to be for advertisers, no one else. By promoting toxicity, we could have people buy stuff only from those toxic communities.
Sounds like you need to join the LeMLM. Pick your favorite niche community and pledge to post something to it daily (if possible, or at least as often as you can).
Then recruit 2 other people to go adopt their own niche communities. Then each of them recruits 2 more, each of them will recruit, and so on and so on. Pretty soon your downline is pumping out so much OC you'll forget all about Spez and his sad little fiefdom.
Ridiculous, and there’s no appealing it either. Now if I want to check out my niche communities I need to load Reddit in a private tab with a VPN to scroll around my “inactive” account, but I never comment.
