Well that sucks, especially since I like several of his movies.
In the meantime, the Behind the Bastards episode on The Satanic Panic really highlights how recent notions like consent and concern for child sexual assault really is. In the 1970s and 1980s, domestic violence and child abuse were regarded as no-one's business outside the household.
So yeah, a lot of people with power abused their position unconscionably.

I'm not sure how pointing out the ubiquity of child sexual assault in western civilization is somehow pro-child rape or child-rape neutral. A descriptive statement is not a prescriptive one.
Are you looking for someone to blame for matters that creep you out?
