Just got diagnosed with ADHD lets gooooo

I'm starting Elvanse (Lisdexamfetmine) soon, and I was wondering how some people here prefer to take it? Like, do you do every day or do you take days off?

I know there's not a massive withdrawal from it like the SNRIs I take atm but I wonder if some folks prefer to have days off for whatever reason.

as per my psychiatrist, don't do days off if it's helping you function
kids do weekends and summers off sometimes to help them gain weight
but the doctor who refills my prescription advised taking 1-2 weeks off during vacations or whatever just to see how you feel with dosage and stuff
the withdrawals are not too bad, I had one or two very low energy days and then I was ok.
I take an SSRI and DA (adderall). Typically is a 20mg xr, and 10mg instant release, which I usually take in 5mg increments when I feel the need. I used to take breaks on the weekends, but I noticed that the lack of stability wasn’t doing me any favors. I’ve found I don’t need it to do my job (struggled through a decade of engineering prior, so I have the skill and endurance) as much as to assure the mental stability and fortitude to deal with everyday bullshit of interacting with NT people lol

I'm taking it mostly due to my ADHD having a high level executive dysfunction, since I was kinda used to the lack of attention in my daily life already. So, in my case, taking even a day off means staying in bed thinking about doing things but doing pretty much nothing, sometimes almost not even eating.
I'm saying this to illustrate that deciding to only take it on specific days depends on why you got it prescribed in the first place.
The times I did decide to not take it for 1-2 days, I didn't really feel any withdrawal, it was just back to old me 🛌.

  The most important advice EAT. I've had a lot of stomach issues caused by this. ANXIETY. Notice it. Feel it. Try to avoid it. If increasing. Tell. Your. Doctor. Dont ignore it due to the positive outweighing what you perceived as the negative.
Someone told me a long time ago that they would set an alarm to take their adhd meds early and go back to sleep and wake up feeling alert and ready to go and they were so right.
I think the time it takes to wake up naturally after going back to sleep can differ from person to person but for me it’s usually about 30 minutes to an hour. The best part is that the effects feel more normalized.
When I take adhd meds during the day I tend to lock on to whatever I was doing shortly after taking it and it throws off my day when I shift away from it, but when I take it and go back to sleep and wake up again I feel like I have more balanced level focus on things.
Also, I'm from the UK (Manchester) and went through NHS Right to Choose. if you're interested in the process i can answer any Qs for you. I was referred August last year.
I'm not on vyvanse anymore but that shit made me latch hard onto whatever I was doing when it kicked in, and that was The One Thing I'm Doing For All Of Today. I never figured out how to deal with that because I was in school at the time and didn't have the flexibility to experiment with my schedule or whatever, but keep an eye out for that and hopefully someone else might have advice for handling it better than I did (which wound up being, stop taking it over the summer and eventually switch to concerta)
