Too colorblind for this meme
Not sure if joking. If not: None of the colors in the legend match the colors in the chart.
[Edit:] Badly color-blind-friendlied:
I thought maybe that was it but wasnt 100%
Thanks
Oh damn. I thought this was nice meme about how at least IT workers at least have job security still.
There's a transcript :)
btw, the transcript doesn't explain what's written on the legend
I work in IT (in Germany) and compared to other industries I'd say we're still doing pretty good. Not saying everything is perfect but salary, benefits, working conditions etc. are (often way) better than average. At least I feel pretty privileged with my job.
Yeah a lot of people who can afford coming here on work hours has a better than average job.
Also in Germany, but i can relate to the meme. It all depends on where you work.
I used to be in your situation for 30 years, but things got bad after the pandemic. I also felt a definite disturbance in the force, the moment i turned 50.
A friend of mine works as a chef in a big restaurant that serves mainly tourists that are often drunk, rude and sometimes aggressive. He works in a hot, loud and greasy athmosphere, has to stand all day, work on weekends, public holidays, often until late in the evening. I work in a clean and comfortable office or even from home, am pretty flexible with my working hours, have more vacation days and still make significantly more money than him. And he's already getting way above minimum wage. There are so many people in Germany who aren't even close to what he makes and who work under conditions even worse than that, like seasonal workers for fruit picking, construction workers, care workers etc.
I think also IT workers should stand up for themselves and demand improvements where things are going in a wrong direction. Still I'd say us IT folks (with probably very few exceptions) shouldn't be the ones complaining in the front row.
People love to complain. Most people have no clue how other people live, while they see their own problems. It is easy to see someone else who has a better live than you in one specific area and think that their life is better, completely ignoring how things really are for them. If you work in IT odds are good you make significantly more money than average for your area. You likely have better working hours too. However it is easy to see someone how seems to be doing nothing on a Tuesday afternoon think their life must be easy instead of they worked all weekend (or all night). It is easy to see someone with one nice toy (often a car) that you can't afford and not realize that the reason you can't is nice toys you have - your house may be better but you don't see that. Or maybe they have no savings and a rainy day will put them on the street fast...
I work on IT in Uruguay and they are pushing me to near suicidal toughts sometimes. The working conditions are the worst I have ever had. I cannot leave this job to boot.
Is the red when everything works well?
Red is first dibs on old equipment.
Who needs the rest when you have that?
Yeah I bet it's super rough
Could you add work-life balance as well considering that you probably live in your office?
Any IT person working that hard these days is doing it wrong. Unless of course you mean those who work from home, then, yeah.
