Reddit has streaks now??
- For a second, I thought OP got banned from Duolingo.
  
  I mean back when duolingo has discussions or what they called it, you might write nasty stuff. But now, imagine being banned for the wrong translation.
  I haven't used duolingo for a few weeks because my hack to have infinite hearts broke again and I'm too lazy to put in the effort even tho it's not that difficult actually
  
  I'm gonna be real, Duolingo is literally only good for motivation and easy vocab review. It has been years since I used it, but the best advice I got on that website was when forums still existed and people told me that the translations for JP were shit and to learn somewhere else, which is probs why those forums got deleted.
  If you have to use hacks to not be bored/deal with the bullshit, then just leave man. It's not worth the bird begging you to come back. Find stuff online, YT (unfortunately) is your friend for resources.

- Gamified social media with streaks and fomo notifications for daily scrolling or posting or whatever is hilariously bad and transparent.
  
  The streak made me want to not log in days in a row because it highlighted how much time I had wasted on the site.

  Every? It was news to me that even reddit does this. I must have left them all too early.
  
  I didnt know they had it either but I'm not surprised to find out. I know Snap started it, TikTok has it, I believe Instagram has it, and Reddit having it comes as no surprise to me
  
  It seems I dodged so many bullets, I might be Neo.
  
  Twitch also has them now for how many of someone's consecutive streams you watch
  
  I use TikTok and I didn't know it had anything like that
  
  Ive never used tiktok in my life, I only found out BC my brother was complaining he lost his streaks the other day and I was like "Youre still using snap?" and he was like "no wtf it's tiktok"

  Well, I did that on my own to be honest. Not anymore, though, lol.
- Wha... do you get some kind of reddit currency if you make a post that breaks 1000 upvotes, with a multiplier based on your log in streak length?
  Jesus Christ, these fucking dark pattern, microtransaction shit just needs to be universally banned.
- Even on old reddit they have these annoying and constant "achievement" notifications now.
  
  I’m so glad I left completely (minus the random search result with no other leads, but no browsing) when the API fuckery started, corporate social media sounds like an absolute hellscape now.
  
  I'm almost there, I had to block the reply button with ublock origin. Quite the habitual addiction.
  
  Why not just nuke the accounts and be done with it
  
  Honestly it's two niche debate subs that kept me engaging that there's no substitute for. I think with the reply button blocked I'll be able to delete my account again soon. Yep I've relasped before.
  ...and I mainly used those subs to deprogram from my upbringing. That's the real truth, I found it healing.

  I hear you but again I've left out an important detail. Those debate boards have moderators who are mostly checked out since the API drama, so the influx of morons using ChatGPT to "think" for them without getting banned has become intolerable and incredibly depressing when considering the long term implications of that among youth.
  The positive feelings are an afterglow.
- Yeah honestly a social media streak getting bigger is a sign I should probably take a day off.
- They have a “basement dweller” achievement if you hit two years.
