My big frustration with my local event, which was big, was that none of the speakers knew how to direct a crowd into taking focused and specific action.

This is a constant issue.
It's worth getting up there and asking people to call congress, and walking them through how to leave a voicemail.

I think it's because violence is necessary but calling for violence is illegal.
The state has a monopoly on violence, but when the state becomes tyrannical it's the duty of the people to revoke that monopoly.

While crowd sizes are difficult to estimate, organizers said that more than 600,000 people had signed up to participate and that events also took place in U.S. territories and a dozen locations across the globe.
If we assume one million people attended, then that's... uh... nice I guess. If they can consistently engage this many people and expand their numbers there might be hope for America.

Registration sizes are going to be way under crowd sizes. I went with a bunch of folks. None of us registered.

In the small majority red city I grew up in there were well over 1000 people which is telling for that area.
In the even smaller somewhat red city I currently reside, multiple hundreds turned out.
That is very indicative to me.
Both of these protests were like...dozens the first few times. It's growing. I'm excited to see it.

Republicans are already getting cold feet about Trump's tariffs. A protest doesn't have to be immediately followed by or be the cause of some major event to be effective. It's a clear indicator that people are unhappy and that the GOP majority is in jeopardy, if not their lives.

I’m not saying it’s pointless to own a fire extinguisher. I’m saying that the time to use it was when your kitchen cabinet caught fire- currently your entire house is burning down and while your fire extinguisher is very nice and cute, there are other things you should probably be doing. Also (not directed at you, but others in this thread) these things don’t include getting defensive toward the people next door who are pointing it out.
