What are some ways by which disabled people can discover and volunteer for stem cell treatment?

I know an incredibly smart senior here near Milwaukee County, WI who's disabled by MS and has been restricted to using a scooter for years. He'd love to walk again, but I but I don't know how he can get involved in studies like this: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-025-00863-0

All I could find was the ISSCR (Int'l Society for Stem Cell Research), but I don't think reaching them directly would be fruitful, would it?

Direct with researchers.
Usually thru universities but grants are drying up.
Studies by companies sometimes take participants from volunteering, but usually they start with lists from healthcare workers.
So talk to their doctor and make sure they know about desire to volunteer, check "local" universities and hospitals

In my experience stuff like this starts with your primary healthcare provider.
They would research it on your behalf or connect you with a specialist on that topic.

Look at university websites near you. They should have studies listed. It’s a crapshoot if they happen to research MS though
