Inclusive
Inclusive doesn't mean they let everybody in regardless, I understand you were trying to help but they're asking women's opinion in a women community and you start with "hello I'm not a woman but" đ
Inclusive doesn't mean they let everybody in regardless
It does. I mean, if they not let everybody participate it's by definition an exclusive community. In this case exclusive to women. Which is fine, but it is not universally inclusive (as the word "inclusive" without any further definition implies).
I get what they probably want to say - they include every woman, regardless of age/nationality, if it's a MTF trans woman etc. But they could have expressed this better - i.e. "inclusive community for women" or something.
On the other hand, you're supposed to read the rules when you post in a community the first time so this confusion could've been avoided by both sides.
I agree that the word âinclusiveâ is not used correctly here.
The communityâs full rules are visible in the bottom right of the screenshot with no mention of exclusivity. The commenter isnât at fault if the modâs rules communicate the opposite of their practice. Itâs also up to the host instance admins if exclusive communities such as that are allowed.
It's exclusive to men

It's inclusive to women
How is overall inclusively measured?
Trump is inclusive too, doesn't mean he has to protect black people, right?
Remember, communities are more akin to private walled gardens than public open fields.
Most of the time you're walking into someone's house to make a post or comment.
The Fediverse is built on the efforts of relatively few individuals on their own motivation and convictions. There are no duties to uphold for shareholders or governments.
People are welcome to be as open and inclusive as they can manage, but there's no actual obligation to the public at large. So it's wise just to be respectful in general and let this stuff roll off your back.
The community rules clearly state "women only."
Seems more like rules state everyone but cisgender men in the way they worded it. Trans-man would be included since it says anyone under the trans umbrella.
Women only⌠trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isnât allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (eg non binary) is welcome
Unfortunately, according to the standardised definition of 'inclusive', they were out of order in policing the community in a way that did not align with the community rules. The post alone was directed at women, but the community is not.
