Noob question: Although extracting drinkable water from seawater is ecologically questionable, could we extract sodium from the brine produced for battery manufacturing?
Perhaps we can use desal brine to make these sodium batteries
Dead sea is probably a cheaper source, since it’s already highly concentrated. However, if logistics are a problem, but you happen to have an RO plant nearby, it might make sense. There’s still plenty of water in the reject, so further concentration is required, and those expenses will add up.
