Defiant CBS suddenly comes out swinging in $20bn Trump lawsuit

Summary
CBS has moved to dismiss Donald Trump’s $20 billion lawsuit over a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris, calling it an attack on the First Amendment.
Trump alleges CBS edited the interview to harm him politically, citing “voter interference.” CBS attorneys argue the lawsuit seeks to punish “constitutionally protected editorial judgments” and is “without basis in law or fact.”
If not dismissed, CBS wants it moved to New York, where its headquarters is located.
The move comes as a surprise because CBS had considered settling to avoid delaying its $8 billion merger with Skydance Media, which requires regulatory approval.
CBS realized if they gave in, Trump had no plans of stopping attacks whatsoever. So if you're gonna get attacked anyways, you might as well fight back .
This is the way
Yeah, this is the only logical move they have. Good to see someone still has ethical brains in business these days.
I hope everyone dealing with him recognizes this and stops trying to deal with him
Corporations and their owners thought that Trump would boost the stock market through tax cuts. Instead the market is tanking due to his moronic tariffs and Russia-appeasement strategy. Now that it’s clear he won’t be making them money they have rediscovered their “morals”.
I hope this is true. I've always hoped that the one think that might save us is MAGA's virtuosic incompetence.
Yeah, I recently read a Guardian article about how the crackdown on non-violent protestors in the UK is leading climate activists to a little more, uh, active forms of protest. If you're going to jail for five years anyway, you might as well make it count.
The can't legally make allowing the merger to be a conditionon a settlement agreement. So there'd be nothing to keep his petty ass from stopping it either way.
They're greedy and would do anything for the merger, but Trump doesn't honor his deals.
I'm sure it works the same way with the mafia. I doubt companies that pay extortion to the mafia only do a one-time payment.
What makes you think this is not going to be a recurring thing if they settle this one?
