The whole article is great in that it admits to a ton of crimes of the NED while desperately trying to frame it as a good thing.

It's very ironic that austerity madness is what is finally killing these exporters of neoliberalism. Somebody should X at musk to cut all funding for the University of Chicago too.

Fuck it, cut the funding for everything! Hey conservatives, you say small government is good, you know what's even better? Even smaller government. And it doesn't get any smaller than no government. Just abolish the whole thing. Go full on ancap! Let the market decide. If the army can't deliver a return on investment, let it go bankrupt! Navy? You'd get a better ROI turning those carriers into luxury cruise ships. If Congress can't turn a profit, fire those lazy bums. Senate? More like Se-not! Presidency? Get out of here with that commie crap. Just have a CEO instead. CIA, FBI, NSA, ICE? Welfare queens! Time for them to earn their own living competing on the free market instead of mooching off the taxpayer dime. Pull themselves up by their bootstraps, maybe start a small business spying on unfaithful husbands for their wives. And definitely none of that woke NED or USAID garbage! I'm of so many minds in this, no idea how to feel.
Worst case scenario, this is actually a plan by the intelligence fuckers to cover their backsides better. The global south and any leftist worth a thing is now well aware and wary of anything that has to do with the NED. This could be a way to supply funds to their fascist puppets with even less scrutiny and notice.
I'm really hoping this is just the bourgeois dictatorship putting itself through interesting times. Decades of anti-communist propaganda accrued to a debt to truth, wouldn't it be wonderful if they've fallen for their own deception and that debt is due?
- I think this is definitely part of some kind of retrenchment initiative: cut back on the imperial overextension, place the regime change machinery under more direct intelligence agency/state department control, and stop wasting resources on secondary fronts and instead focus on the main enemy which is China. However, in the meantime, the regime change apparatus is in considerable chaos during this transition period and a lot of things are coming to light that are helping to clean out some of the US's various tentacles across the world. It is unclear whether the plan will succeed as they envisioned it or whether they have irreparably damaged the entire system with this sudden shock. For now i think anti-imperialists should see it as an opportunity, a temporary weakness that can be taken advantage of, but also staying wary of what the next step will be after they reorganize and recover from this chaotic reboot of the regime change machine.
- A lot of this stuff Trump is doing could just be vengeance for his first term. USAID funded a bunch of journos who shit over Trump's rejection of the neoliberal order. DoE has a bunch of public sector unions. DoJ was responsible for some embarrassing legal defeats.
  The levers of power were designed to resist being pushed with force, so he's just unbolting them from the floor instead.

The framing in this piece seemed even more unhinged than most. I had to look up the about page for Freedum Post. Founded by Bari Weiss. The anti-woke snowflake who thought that the incredibly pro-zionist NYT wasn't pro-zionist enough. Who resigned from the NYT, complaining that she was bullied by other NYT journalists who criticized her ideas. Pointing out that your ideas are baseless and franky, fucking dumb as shit, is not bullying lmao!
