People will call it Woke
She a boring normal protagonist? "So WOKE! No point in even making it a woman!!!"
If she is some badass with special abilities? "So WOKE! Can't even be a normal woman!"
Women really can't win with conservatives. (I know you're being sarcastic)
Certainly "Woke" something in me. 😏
Having not played any in the series but having them on my to-play list, this was my first thought. No matter how great it is, there will always be people who see a protagonist who doesn't look like them and call it woke.
If it's obvious that this is just a typical "replace established male characters with yas, queen slay female character" writing then they'll be proven right
They've been building her up for the entire series. She's playable in 3.
That's why complaining about this would be such a joke
Is the model for Ciri millie Bobby brown? Can't unsee it now that I've thought that...
To the surprise of... an absolute fuck-ton of people.
When did gamers get so stupid?
I can smell poor writing form a mile.
Ciri going through mutations, is utterly wrong concept.
Yeah, not to be pessimistic but I'm a bit scared that they'll just turn her into a gender-swapped Geralt. Ciri has her own things going on that make her special and an interesting character, she doesn't need Witcher mutations
Why don't we just..... Wait and see?
This is 2024-25 you should know better by now, hence people being skeptic
That's funny. I've just started Witcher 3 some time ago and one of my early thoughts was "Damn, Ciri seems much more interesting. Why don't I play as her more?"
What made her so "interesting" to you ? we are curious
So admittedly, I'm not far into the game and only played a single Ciri segment thus far as well as read a few in-game books. (Please don't spoil me.)
My main point is that she's more talkative with more personality shining through. Geralt usually answers in a short straight forward fashion and does not seem to care either way what happens to most things. Ciri on the other hand showed a clear alignment.
There's also more innate conflict about her character with her being the daughter of the Nilfguardian king as well as the Elder Blood thing (I've only read the book of the same title). While someone already spoiled me that she gets kinda OP because of the later, I think there are more options for interesting power progression with her. I've read all skills Geralt can learn and I'm quite sure I'll be playing in a similar way towards the end of the game as I do now, just popping more potions. In addition, the only innate conflict with Geralt so far (and from what I remember playing WItcher 2) is whether to romance Triss or Yennefer (and I've got no horse in that race, neither of them is my type).
Lastly, while it wasn't a plot point in Witcher 3 yet, Geralt does lose a lot of points for being a (former?) amnesiac.
My stance could change, but that's my current view about 15h in. Currently doing the Keira questline with the ghost lamp.
Who is we?
You don't think Ciri is an interesting character? I don't really get what you're asking here
