Trump's camp is full of conspiracy theorists. Being assassinated would lead to many of his followers thinking it happened because progressives saw the danger in him winning a second term.
The better option for politics in America is for as much of his actions to come to light as possible so his own followers can come to the correct conclusion on their own: he's a liar and a fraud.

As other people have said, it would be way worse to have him him assassinated. If it's looking like he's going to lose, I could see the people who want the US unstable to prefer assassinating him instead.
