My fifth CD, the one that actualy had the city of Baldur's Gate on it, was scratched> i never got to experience the endgame. : (

This was one of the reasons why I favored BG1 over BG2. You could see based on the roads that the maps are interconnected into one cohesive whole. Meanwhile, BG2's maps outside of the city are just points on a global map with no real connection between each other.
also bg1 had lots of mostly or entirely self-contained maps. you really got to feel like you were stumbing into random shit happening in the world, instead of the curated "this is your x adventure" feel that bg2 had.
I am a casual gamer and have this on Steam. Should I attempt it or is it overwhelming. I needed strategy guides to beat both KOTORs and Dragon Age.
It’s not overwhelming at all. I am a novice / dumber gamer and I played through this as a younger person. The story is great, the gameplay is great, and it’s just fun.
There is a mod called World of Baldurs Gate, that combines BG trilogy, icewind dale 1&2 , all of the most popular mods into one playthrough. It's massive.
