What are your most-anticipated upcoming games that no one seems to be talking about?
My wishlist has a few games that I'm really looking forward to, but which have relatively little hype behind them. Even on their Steam discussion forums, there's maybe 6 threads and none of them recent. I'm wondering what else I might be missing!
Old Skies - New adventure game from the current masters of the art, Wadjet Eye Games.
Dead Static Drive - Not quite sure how to describe it better than the dev does - "Grand Theft Cthulhu".
Nine Sols - A new game from the developers of Detention and the excellent-but-review-bombed Devotion, RedCandleGames. This one will be a hand-drawn 2D soulslike.
Guinea Pig Parkour - 2D platformer using hand-drawn animation, with heavy emphasis on a 1990s aesthetic.
Miegakure - 4D puzzle game. I think this is talked about quite a bit, but nowhere near as much as it deserves.
CONSCRIPT - A 2D survival horror, with an isometric view and pixel graphics, set during WWI.
REMEDIUM - Twin stick shooter from a dev whose previous games are also excellent but flew under the radar.
Phonopolis - Amanita Design's new game (they previously made Machinarium). The art style alone is making me excited to get my hands on it!
I have dozens more like this on my wishlist, but I think 10 is enough for now haha.
Homeworld 3. It's been delayed to March next year, but this is finally new story and lore for a series which informed and influenced game design for decades.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 it's been delayed over and over again because a piece of shit keeps fucking around where he doesn't belong (the developer is in Ukraine)
Hoping that Corepunk isn't dead. It was looking great in development, but the main dev team was in Ukraine. Was supposed to have CBT last year. Every so often would get breadcrumbs of the work they were doing but it seems to have fallen off. Totally understandable knowing their whole lives and families were impacted by the Russian invasion and continued destruction of Ukraine. Hoping that once they are able to get a semblance of normality back into their lives they will still want to finish the project.
I'm very, very cautiously optimistic that maybe Maximum Football will finally provide a superior alternative to Madden this year. They've been hyping up a totally rebuilt game and it at least looks like they are taking some cues from my all-time favorite football game (NFL 2K5), but I have serious, serious doubts about the ability of a small indie team to make a compelling football game. I so hope they prove me wrong and I keep my eyes out for any update from them.
Now that Starfield is out the only thing on my wishlist that isn't already out is Lies of P.
Ain't seeing anyone talk about this, but the marketing is starting to ramp up as it approaches release. Where my Souls fans at? Have you seen this game? It looks like the closest thing to a Fromsoft game as a knock-off I've ever seen. Plus the whole Pinnochio angle has me interested.
I wasn't interested because of the theme until the Iron Pineapple video which had looked at it (I don't remember which one. Just watch them all to figure it out).
I'm looking forward to "Hades II" and "The Coffin of Andy and Leyley"
The first Hades is another one of those games that I have thousands of hours in right now. That includes Tarraria, Minecraft, Fallout series, and soon to be Baldur's Gate 3... Knowing SuperGiant games, Hades II will be added to the list likely. Steam
The Coffin of Andy and Leyley is a sort of psychological horror 'comedy' game that caught some popularity lately. Enough so that the original game just became an episode 1 of four. For sure worth the check-out if you love story rich shorter games. Steam / Itch
