Venus flytrap flowers [OC]
My Venus flytrap has sprouted a long stem with some pretty little flowers at the end. The purpose of the long stem is to help keep pollinators away from the traps.

The first time mine ever flowered I was blown away. It just now occurred to me the purpose of the long stalk after you pointed out it’s to keep pollinators safe from its jaws.
- Are you running supplemental lighting?
I feel like an idiot for not realizing Venus fly traps need to flower, but now that I’ve seen it, it’s kind of a mini mind blow.
Imagine pollinating a flower only to become it's breakfast the next day 8(
- Even a beekeeper gets stung sometimes.
Based on how often I see Venus flytraps online, I am still astounded that they’re native to only North and South Carolina.
- Fortunately, I guess, they're relatively easy to cultivate, because their habitat keeps shrinking.
