  • Nutomic is still a site admin, nothings been done. I fully suggest if you want a more safe and secure place for trans people to move to hexbear. They have a lot of very friendly and inclusive trans people there and are very active and have something like 50 trans mods/admins. You can browse their comms from lemmy.ml if you want to take a look at them

I would ban him from here but to do that he has to make a post so 🤷‍♀️. Lemmy.ml admin team is 100% a boys club and its why this instance is so bad. I personally use lemmy.ml to check on trans spaces across the fediverse, I feel like thats the only use case its good for.

    • yeah i've had my eye on hexbear for a while. if Lemmy weren't so resource intensive i'd run a personal instance myself, but looks like hexbear is probably where i'll end up (assuming they accept me :p)

      • Hexbear caters to a pretty specific flavor of Marxism. I think you'd be accepted, just be prepared. Pro China, Cuba, DPRK, etc positions are pretty much the norm, and you gotta have a lot of receipts if you want to push against any of those positions and prevent getting dunked on.

    • Is there any chance that further advocacy would be entertained? I can't imagine nutomic being removed as admin any time soon ... but having his banning of beaver undone seems viable and perhaps a meaningful inroad with the rest of the admin team.

      • Doubt it, I messaged them about either possibility, crickets. Maybe if they had a trans person or simply someone that isn't a guy on the team it would be different. Right now I fully suggest swapping to hexbear if you want a safer space for trans people, but if you're fine with wading through bullshit, other places are fine I guess.

    • I can also suggest lemmy.blahaj.zone has a lot of trans people too and I think skews somewhat less political than hexbear

      • Ada refused to answer a simple direct question that I posed "Will you ban trans fascists/racists" and preferred to talk around it

As such blahaj.zone is not an inclusive space and is fundamentally only for white people of a liberal bent, the only place I can recommend as accepting and inclusive and has a large trans community is hexbear.

Also, to be frank, most of their community is /c/196. Trans people feel like a minority there.

'Apolitical' just means liberal and too accepting of transphobes, racists, and chasers and is a prime issue with this instance even.

    • You might be able to ban them directly from https://phtn.app/

  • Nutomic is still a site admin, still banned from this comm, haven't heard anything new myself.

    • looking more and more like I'll be making an alt on another instance then... :p

      • Yeah, just a frustrating situation, running into communists who view trans people as bourgeois decadence is usually something I have to go home for.

The process of 'westernization' was what brought things like homophobia and transphobia to places under colonial occupation. The civil criminalization of gay people in England started as early as things like the buggery act of 1533, buggery comes from the french term bougre -

"sodomite," 1550s, earlier "heretic" (mid-14c.), from Medieval Latin Bulgarus "a Bulgarian" (see Bulgaria), so called from bigoted notions of the sex lives of Eastern Orthodox Christians or of the sect of heretics that was prominent there 11c. Compare Old French bougre "Bulgarian," also "heretic; sodomite."

The western imported 'values' were themselves rooted in xenophobia and bigotry against eastern orthodox heretics. (Bogomils)

      • Feel free, migration takes 2 clics

    • still banned on a few hexbear comms

Banned from entirely from hexbear, it's a site ban
