Half asleep, I added coffee to the espresso grinder. Never has it been more clear, that grind size matters.

I had the same experience this morning. Glad to see I'm not the only one who has issues with a shared grinder.
Haha! Yeah, we gotta stick together
Doesnât work with V60 style, but with an aeropress it would have worked a lot better.
Oh, man!!! I didn't even think of that!! Making coffee before coffee wins again...
I share my SK40 for espresso (usually morning) and aeropress (usually afternoon), and have definitely left it set for the wrong thing occasionally.
The aeropress is a little stiff to press if you put espresso grind in it, the product is usually fine. The underextraced 10ish second espresso shot is a lot more disappointing.
Iâve noticed that the AeroPress is actually very forgiving when it comes to particle size. If youâre using about 60 g/l, thereâs only one way to screw it up, and that is by grinding to coarse. In that case the water will just run through the bed under a minute and your coffee ends up being too dilute. Fortunately, there are a few ways to fix that, so the game isnât entirely over at that point.
Grinding too fine isnât really a problem either, since you can always just press the water through the bed even if the filter is completely clogged up. Itâs just going to take a bit longer to do so. Your coffee might not be ideal, but at least it will be drinkable.
Small benefit of hand grinding: ain't no way I'm accidentally grinding espresso fine with the amount of work it takes
That is true. And I do have a hand grinder, but I discovered that I'm pissy before I get my coffee and hand grinding exacerbates that pissiness.
I frequently think to myself that the problem with making your own coffee is that you have to do it before you've had any coffee.
