The 4 stages of a day off;
This post brought to you by treating my ADHD with prescribed stimulant medication (and my refusal to take it on days off, even if that means I sleep all day because I'm all unfocused).
I've learned long ago I need one do-nothing day a week. Bible was on to something.
Get yourself someone who tells you that you deserve a break.
My wife actually does things on her days off. It really doesn't mesh with my desire to just relax.
The sun is going to burn out one day, and we will destroy ourselves far before that, likely within the next century!
Do as much or as little as you want to do.
It's thrown around often, but few to no one, at least here in the US, truly appreciate and internalize that nothing really matters. If happiness is actually your goal, stop letting other people shame you into hustling. I genuinely pity A types, a bunch of hamsters on a wheel.
For the first time in a while, this hasn't been me! Small victories.
Well done!!! Any tips?
Honestly? A really good therapist, reading some very interesting books, and prioritising building a community & finding my people.
Meanwhile my autistic ass wakes up at six and then proceeds to spend the whole day coding something useless or tinkering with my Linux setup until it's perfect. Which feels great but also like... where did my day go?
Today is my day off. It is noon and I'm at number 2.
Days are shorter than you think.
I’ve fallen into this habit way too launch on weekends. It’s been too long since I got anything done and the chores are piling up.
I do have a couple partial excuses though, that at least shows my priorities right:
The four stages of life
oh no
I bail at step 3 with "I'll do all that stuff next weekend."
