Because they're perfectionists about their work and the way they cope with the anxiety is by abandoning the projects and burying themselves in their phones all day.

Hey what gives, I was never a "gifted child" but ive still ended up being an anxious and unfocused adult :(
Saaaame here. Struggled all through school until I got to college where I did really well as long as I had a structure that agreed with me. A lack of it bit me in the ass come thesis though. Took ages.
Most of us "gifted kids" struggled in school.
Gifted=ADHD and/or autism
