A stingray that got pregnant this winter despite not having shared a tank with a male of her species for many years has died, a North Carolina aquarium says
They killed her before stingray Jesus could come back and forgive the sins of all the stingrays. After they killed Steve Irwin, they’ve all been damned to Hell.
I don't think it had ever been pregnant? I think I remember hearing it was cancer,
Not to say that some species can't self replicate, including some skates and rays I believe
I don't know the case here, but in case anyone is interested, animals that can self-impregnate are said to be parthenogenetic.
