Trans Megathread for the Week of 2024-10-07 to 2024-10-13 - ETR 600
The ETR 600 is a class of trains built by Alstom, and are used on the routes between Roma-Bolzano and Roma-Trieste. The train tilts, using Pendolino technology, allowing higher speeds to be maintained through corners without causing discomfort to passengers. The trains are operated by Trenitalia, originally under the Frecciargento (Silver Arrow) branding used for trains capable of travelling between 250 km/h and 285 km/h, In 2022 they were rebranded under Frecciarossa (Red Arrow) after the Frecciargento branding was retired.
The ETR 600 has also been adapted for use in China as the China Railway CRH5 Hexie. Initially 60 sets were ordered, of which nine were manufactured by Alstom and 51 by CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles. Since, another 80 sets have been created for a total of 140, operating across China's north from Beijing to Ürümqi.

Usually when meds "expire" they mostly just lose potency. A few can become poisonous, but I don't think estradiol is one (let me check). How expired are these expired meds?
Doesn't look like estradiol is one of the ones that decays harmfully, you should be fine.
There should be an expiry date on the bottle if it came from a regular pharmacy. The labels can fade kind of fast from being handled or from sunlight exposure (sunlight exposure is a big no no cause it'll degrade your drugs), or just sheer age lol
Depending on how you feel, I'd say it's probably safe to use but expect to be at a lower dose than when you first got them - do not increase the dose on your own, wait until you get a refill, some estrogen is better than nothing. If you need more info, take it to your/any pharmacist and ask them about expiry/safety to use. The sugar they use to help keep the pill in pill form degrades after a few years, but that'll probably just make it taste more bitter rather than being unsafe. If you're feeling anxious, technically the official health advice is to always throw away expired medication (even though usually they're good for many years past expiration with the worst thing happening being it's just not as strong) - but honestly that's quite conservative in outlook when we have to pay so much for pharmaceuticals and they play fast and loose with expiry dates anyway...
Incidentally, don't put expired eye drops in your eyes. I've helped set up more than one morgan lens and run fluids through them because of it lol
Idk if I'm able to get a new refill without a bloodwork consultation since it's been awhile since my last checkup and I'm uninsured now
Does Planned Parenthood do refills if you have a record of your last prescription or do they want to do a checkup too? I have major anxiety about medical appointments
It'll probably depend on your state but some states allows pharmacists to prescribe at a limited level especially for stuff like this where you just need to bridge until you get a doctor or something. Any Planned Parenthood should have a doctor or NP that can order, that should be fine (you only need enough to bridge until you get a doc or just keep using them should be okay, but they might not feel comfortable increasing your dose). You should be able to get your bloodwork req ordered there as well.
If none of the above works, you can totally get on diy - there is a standardized chart to figure out dosing per route (so like 5 mg SL once a day I think is equivalent to 6.5 mg subq weekly). You should still get your levels checked but that should be more doable. Being on diy while waiting to find a doctor or other healthcare person is allowed and you can even tell the doctor that you're doing diy and they'll help (hopefully) get you on regular pharmacy meds and bloodwork if that's what you want.
At the very least, they might be willing to give the generic starting dose without an immediate checkup and want a follow-up in 3 months? Mine didn't do hormone bloodwork until after 3 months for the first Rx (but did require a basic metabolic panel to check K for spiro)
