By Andrew Chung WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The U.S. Supreme Court declined on Friday to let President Joe Biden's administration enforce a key part of a new rule protecting LGBT students from discrimination in schools and colleges based on gender identity i...
Rights are still being rolled back. It doesn't matter that "he tried" people's freedoms are being taken away. This is extremely serious, and has zero room for excuses like you and the article are trying to make.
No one will give a fuck that "he tried" to stop marriage equality from being overturned; if it happens then he already was not "trying" hard enough. He (and Democrats in general) needs to put his foot down and start removing justices if they continue to make people into 2nd class citizens.
These rights are being led and removed by Republican states and their respective politicians. They are unfortunately doing everything in their power to ensure their ideology remains in power. They also have a mass following that perpetuates their ideology through their media. For instance, Texas has consistently refused to follow the orders of the Biden administration when it pertains to the border. What would you expect him to do in that scenario?
So he can do nothing? His hands are tied? Then what's the point of voting blue if you're just going to get an "oh well 🤷🏼♀️" whenever your rights are being taken away?
What are Democrats going to do to prevent this?
What would you expect him to do in that scenario?
To prevent what he and the Democrats always say will happen if a Republican is president. Don't tell me trump will be worse and do fuckall to protect people's rights.
The new democratic slogan should be "we can't actually stop them and aren't trying to. We just hope the lie scares you enough to vote for us. Nothing will fundamentally change."
I think that perhaps you have just given up, because I don’t think that’s at all what the Dems are doing at the moment.
Shit is getting worse even with a Democrat in office. It's not that I've "given up" it's that I see it for what it is and I'm not interested in democrat gaslighting.
It's delusional to see this as anything other than Democrats not wanting to actually deliver on their promises. They want to be the party of vague threats.
To think NO change has happened is false and not inserting any nuance into American politics.
Roe v Wade was overturned under Biden.
Homelessness can now be considered a crime that isn't immune from cruel and unusual punishments, this happened under Biden.
The president was declared immune from the law under Biden.
The genocide is quickly progressing into a regional war (which is worse) under Biden.
Food prices and the costs of living have continued to rise and will continue to rise under Biden, and he will offer no meaningful change in that regard.
These are the changes that have occurred under the Democrats.
Ah yes, environmental policies under biden, like more offshore drilling, taxing solar cells from china. Very cool! Ending deforestation by 2030 (and by that, it means we won't stop and most people will forget about it by then. Be carbon neutral by 2050, boy howdy, I bet so many people will remember that promise in 30 years.
2nd source shows a chart claiming the cost of living is going down, when in fact, its only going down in comparison to previous years in bidens presidency, and there are several other charts like this, or charts overselling minor changes as huge wins. Both are misleading.
3rd source is like others said a campaign ad, but not many people here are gonna throw their hands up and cheer over things like "support ukraine" and "counter terrorism" since we all universally hate amerikkka.
The last source can very easily be summarized by people having eyes. No amount of microscopic changes are going to win over people who are struggling pay check to pay check.
Well, it’s clear that my supporting evidence is nothing against your disbelief in any meaningful change in the country — or, just your consistent pessism. I concede to this conversation, but not the dead end path you seem to want to go on which involves no conversation on any meaningful solutions. Just sarcasm related to anything I’ve i clouded in my prior comment.
When an executive action by the executive branch is blocked by the court, it's because the executive is spineless. Especially when that same court gave the executive total immunity and power in official acts.
If Trump or Bush ran into resistance from the courts, they would just go around them. It's a false barrier.
The Supreme Court is still stacked with Republicans. Therefore the Biden Administration did nothing real. Anything else they may have pretended to do was entirely for optics.
Is there a limit to how many executive orders can go out? Why not release a hundred orders? Force the court to strike them down one at a time, then release a hundred more. Actually try to fucking win for once
