What's the status of r/AskHistorians?

I've looked around but haven't found updates on if or where the subreddit migrated.

I searched for instances on Lemmy. There are 4 but they're unmoderated or appear to be moderated by a bot.

The askhistorians.org website still links to the subreddit.

The subreddit itself seems to be open, but the list of moderators is hidden (probably because I deleted my reddit account).

I found some chatter on Discord, but not an actual server.

Thanks!

12+yr redditor DELETED

Just deleted my 12+ year account on Reddit and I'm still feeling weird.

Was a long time lurker. My grand total of upvotes reached 4K!

I used Redact to remove my comments; there were so few posts I could delete them on my own.

Experiencing those feelings of 'oh, this is a toxic relationship; but I really don't want to leave because there's this groove and so much history'

That's it. It is HISTORY.

and now I'm out

Where do I find a list of blocked instances?

There was a post 12 days ago about preemptively defederating from Threads with this response from mod/admin @ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone

Someone said Threads was still on the Linked Instances column, not the Blocked Instances column. [Edited to delete mischaracterization of a statement]

Where can I find this list of Linked vs. Blocked?

I have [this] but I don't see Threads on there. [Edited to delete bad information]

If Threads is defederated, does that mean Meta/Facebook are as well?

Thanks!

at least one lemmy.world admin accepted an off the record meeting with meta, and they won't tell you about it.
  • "you can do what you want"

So far, that's not been my experience. I tried deleting my lemmy.world instance/account but it didn't work. I posted to lemmy.world Support and have not received any response https://lemmy.world/post/1230305. It's only been 3 days, so I'll give it some more time. Though I thought I would at least get a reply acknowledging receipt. The only response to my post was another person experiencing the same problem.

  • Calling all Armenian proverb explainers: All Balls, No Shaft (Musk v. Zuck)
www.vice.com Taliban Endorses Twitter Over Threads

"Other platforms cannot replace it," said a senior member of the Taliban in a tweet, explaining that Meta is "intolerant."

    Taliban Endorses Twitter Over Threads

I found this on The Verge, though it originated on Vice. I tried posting a screenshot, but that didn't work:

“Zuckerberg is clearly the Mullah Omar of this situation,” Shabanian said, referring to the founder of the Taliban and previous ruler of Afghanistan.. “You may not like him, but at least you know what you're getting. And it's uniform across platforms and districts. Unlike going with Musk, who represents a lawless, profit-driven society. Musk is all balls, no shaft, as the ancient Armenian proverb goes.

Any thoughts on the story behind this proverb?

There's nothing wrong with using Reddit, Twitter, and other mainstream site still while being active on fediverse.
  • I still have my Reddit account and will check in briefly, but I'm not posting or upvoting. Mostly I check subreddits that I haven't found a similar alternative here.

Somewhere I came across https://teddit.net/ which is kind of interesting. It shows Reddit r/all; you can't login to your Reddit account, but it keeps traffic away from actual Reddit.

So far, I'm having a (more or less) fun time figuring out kbin/Lemmy!
