The thread wasn't made for this one because there weren't any comments on the episode 3 thread. Then, a user requested that rikka make a thread for this episode via pm today. I don't know why they haven't then commented in the thread here, but that is why it was just posted today rather than when it aired.
I haven't seen this one, but the review definitely makes me interested. I am a total sucker for a well-done romance. Back when the show came out (2007) that was absolutely not the case, so I had skipped it. Might have to go back and check it out.
BTW, I see you crossposted a bunch of different communities. This would also fit right in on !anime@ani.social, so feel free to add that one to your list.
This community used to be much more active, but there was a large exodus of the most active users after some far-reaching admin interventions (like this one) that saw a mod get removed from this community and the episode discussion bot unable to post here any longer. A lot of the activity has moved to a different instance/community. The reason people aren't linking it directly is because admins have previously removed any comments/posts that link to it (including over two months of the pinned weekly discussion threads). It shows up on lemmy community browsers like lemmy-explorer though.
The only Spanish-speaking community I know of is !anime_es@ani.social but it is new and only has a couple posts. I just know of it because I mod other communities on the instance. I recognize you as somebody that has been active in the anime/manga communities elsewhere, so I thought you might find it relevant.
I remember reading similar issues where a user got mentioned or a message from another user that was blocked, but it still shows up as a notification in the icon. Similarly, if you don't show bots, it could be that a bot replied to one of your comments and you can't see it.
I'll repost what I said in another thread. Like OP, I am glad that this is getting made. It is not something you typically see in anime/manga and a diversity of options in media is a great thing.
I had read a portion of the manga a while back. I didn't think this manga provided anything novel enough to keep my interest, but for a certain segment of the population, the art was exactly what they are looking for. So, if you are a big fan of the teaser visual, expect basically an anime with fan service about women that look like that.
This series is like the anti-How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift. It revolves around an elf that finds human food, specifically french fries, so delicious that she just can't stop eating them and, despite the male lead's best efforts, is unable to lose weight. There is a veritable smorgasbord of female characters built similarly to the elf from the visual in this series in what is likely the highest average BMI harem in manga. I call it a harem, but in what I read at least, there aren't really any romance elements, more just friendship, slice of life, and nutritional counseling.
I wrote a little bit about it a while back when I posted a clip for Thanksgiving. Overall, it is a piece of lighthearted fun that was perfect for watching an episode before bed. It also tried to be educational about how to properly work out, while at the same time using those educational segments as an excuse to include a bit of ecchi.
I will paste what I answered in a similar thread from !anime@ani.social a little while back that might be of interest to you:
I usually watch an OP once for a show and then skip it each time afterwards. That being said, there are a handful that I remember making the choice to always watch each episode. In no particular order:
- (NSFW) B Chiku Sentai SOX - "SHIMONETA: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn’t Exist" - I always laughed at the visuals of this more than anything. This show was wild.
- Onegai Muscle - "How Heavy Are The Dumbbells You Lift?"
- Idol - "Oshi no Ko"
- Zeitaku na Saji - "Campfire Cooking in Another World with my Absurd Skill"
- GO!!! - "Naruto"
I haven't watched either of those shows, and I can't really say that it is the genre I usually consume, but wanted to mention that you might get more answers on either !anime@ani.social or !anime@lemmy.ml.
As for thrillers I have seen or heard good things about, perhaps Death Note (if you haven't seen it yet)? I haven't seen this one, but I have heard good things about Psycho-Pass as well which seems to have some similar themes based on the synopses.
They refederated a couple hours ago (source). @antik@lemmy.world made a post clarifying things over in the meta thread on ani.social's site and cleared things up.
I understand people's frustrations with seemingly arbitrary moderation decisions like this sometimes, but I wouldn't want to be in their shoes making calls like that for a large instance like this. It is heartening to see that the review process did not take long and the decision reversed fairly quickly (<12 hours). This stands in contrast to the lemmy.ml admins that defederated ani.social for seemingly no reason and locked all discussion about it and it still stands. So, props to antik and LW admins on this one.
This lines up with my experience. I have nextcloud and wordpress on two different vps's and just checked their ram usage.
- nextcloud: 468 MB
- wordpress: 120 MB
Caveat to the above is that nextcloud is installed bare metal rather than docker and I have both nextcloud and wordpress set up to use object storage as the media back end.
edit: To add to this OP, the reason we are only talking about ram numbers is that the cpu usage for these applications (with primarily only a single user) is pretty much zero most of the time, so you aren't going to be limited by the single core machine.
Also, depending on your use case (large amount of data on nextcloud or large media files in wordpress), you might run out of disk space pretty quickly. In those cases, you should consider using object storage as your nextcloud or wordpress media backends as it is cheaper than block storage (there are plugins/tutorials to configure object storage and Linode offers it).
Vancouver Carpenter is the best channel for drywall hands down. Guy is a professional drywaller, but still covers all kinds of basics and common mistakes. Drywall is one of those things that you aren't going to be good at when you first try it, even with the right technique. The only way you are going to be good (or good enough) at it is to just do it over and over. So, don't beat yourself up if you aren't happy with the first couple seams/patches you do.
My isp doesn't support ipv6 in my area (Verizon). They claim to be in the process of rolling it out, but it's been years that they have been saying that, so idk. At least they don't use CGNAT, so it isn't a huge deal for me after I set up dynamic DNS.
I have a personal instance I run for stuff like testing bots, so it isn't very highly federated (I just sub to a couple communities to make sure it is working). However, I just checked and the whole docker compose stack is using 250 MB of RAM and ~1% CPU on a single core VPS and consuming ~300 MB of disk space.
Of course YMMV depending on how much you use it and federate.
I think that @SJ_Zero@lemmy.fbxl.net was referring to the fact that a large portion of Musk's net worth is tied to the Tesla stock price. The age of easy money that the US economy has been living in for most of the past 15 years has led to many stocks to greatly explode in value much farther beyond what makes sense at a fundamentals level; Tesla being one of the most egregious examples.
Having more fun with this show than I thought I would. It knows that the premise is dumb, so it doesn't waste time explaining things, just pulls out some blessing ex machina and moves on. I can see it growing stale as the season goes, but so far it's fine for what it wants to be.
Also, poor Lammis. They made her carry our protagonist rather than stick him on the wagon.
