  • Mentally not having a great week but not hugely sure why. Not sleeping well which doesn't help. Hoping that seeing Barbie later will help

  • Another vote for using your library. I mostly use BorrowBox as that's what my library hosts their eBooks on. I have used Libby in the past though.

Bookbub is a site that has low cost ebooks that might be worth checking out.

  • That must be so cool to wear shoes that you've literally made

  • I love Dr Martens, or Corsair who are actually better quality but the same style. A pair can last me a good few years and they're incredibly comfortable.

  • I don't know why Musk just didn't do it this way instead, rather than wrecking a globally recognised brand.

  • Two Point Hospital on the PS5. Finding some of the levels harder on console than on PC for some reason, maybe I am expanding too quickly

  • I think it's worth remembering that we never really had 'free speech' on either website in the first place. Both sites had rules regarding the kind of content you could post (including against hate speech which is a good thing imo). You can see now that Musk has loosened some of the rules it's made advertisers wary of associating with it. I would go as far as to say that I don't think true free speech is possible under a capitalist model. As long as there are shareholders or advertisers to appease, there will be restrictions regarding speech (which may or may not be a good thing).

  • Great tip, first thing I found was this which is definitely right up my street

  • There aren't many things that there is a consensus on. LGBTQ+ folk aren't a monolith anymore than any other group is. As long as you ask from a place of respect you should be fine

  • This will have an impact on journalists who use Twitter to get tips for reporting. Seen some who were concerned this would happen

  • Emma Watson

  • It's unlikely she would have given consent for this photo to be online

  • I'm a data analyst that's started to do more data science stuff (learning SQL/python) but not sure I would quite class myself as technical yet.

  • Not on your instance but it's so good to see unequivocal inclusion and support for the trans community. There should be no room for bigotry of any kind.

  • That sounds great. I think there should definitely be more educational games for grown ups along this line

  • "Evil begins when you begin to treat people as things.” Terry Pratchett

  • I'm atheist but I like hearing people's views about religion and belief from the other perspective as well. I find it fascinating how people believe in different things, belief has had a huge impact on the world (for better and worse).

  • Things are much calmer than last week workwise and I have a couple of days off this week thankfully. Saw the first of a few Edinburgh previews last night which was great (was in a damp side room of a pub so felt like being at the fringe already). Seeing an outdoor Shakespeare play on Friday so hoping it stops raining before then!
