I know we generally kind of reject electoralism here but how do yall see 2024 going?
  • I feel its more like way too many things are tempting this outcome.

The easy prediction now imo is still that people want some (even incorrect) sense of slight stability, so Biden at least squeaks out a win. Sorry to anyone who somehow doesn't want that, but that's just the reallly easier bet.

But on what feels now to be a daily/weekly basis, something comes that threatens this. That somehow on a rising mountain of concerns and events, there's nothing the Democrats can eventually do to avoid a collective national shrug as fucking Donald Trump becomes president again. Fucking somehow. I'm not there yet where I'm doomsaying on the corner about it (that'll be Spring?), but I hate the gravitational feeling that's getting too similar to my sentiments in 2016.

  • Literal villain dialogue, “Kratos, you’ve gone soft. And started a family.”
  • I don't 100% love the direction and tone they went with the series, sometimes I think some of the newer aspects lay it on a bit thick (over gametime), but I think we're also - rapidly? - moving past Gen X edginess (not Gen X, not edginess, but just this particular flavor) and that includes whatever contributions Jaffe may have wanted to include. I feel similarly about Mac Walters with Bioware/Mass Effect. I tolerated it in ME2-3, noticed it annoyingly in the shadows of MEA, and by now I just want it gone and the series to actually evolve like it should have several years ago. God of War did, Bioware's still stuck until at least next year.

  • I would just quit.
  • I'm a millennial that has stuck more onto RSS (readers). Just a few feeds at a time is all I need, plus checking into Reddit (yeah). Twitter only appealed for near instant updates about a critical event occuring, and Tiktok only appeals for how much relatively effective activism slips through (for now) lol. I didn't like all of blog culture but I definitely like it more than Twitter. I'm generally against 'status updates' - it feels very, I don't know, bureaucratic? imposed on our humanity - but Twitter felt like the evolution of the notion. Status updating, all the time, all the time, all the time, tweeting into the night..

  • Joe Biden says Palestinians are lying about Palestinian death count
  • His most recent output (amidst a post that's filled with Israel support): "It means acknowledging that Palestinians have also lived in disputed territories for generations; that many of them were not only displaced when Israel was formed but continue to be forcibly displaced by a settler movement that too often has received tacit or explicit support from the Israeli government; that Palestinian leaders who’ve been willing to make concessions for a two-state solution have too often had little to show for their efforts; and that it is possible for people of good will to champion Palestinian rights and oppose certain Israeli government policies in the West Bank and Gaza without being anti-semitic."

He goes as far as 'Palestinians are being treated unfairly', which is more than practically any President, but it always puts them at second.
