"We're on the brink of nuclear war and Donald Trump is to blame - hear me out."
  • I mean to be fair, that was actually a decent deal iirc and would have also helped with the US reducing sanctions on Iran if it was still in effect.

Trump absolutely does suck for that one.

Obviously not arguing with your point about Israel being the belligerent, just adding.

  • Gamer looking at the monkeys paw in disbelief
  • Rust is great. Still a fair amount of nazis. Just makes it easier to prioritize bases to destroy. 14th most played game on steam right now. What was edgy about it? Always seemed pretty standard to me.

  • Videogame development times are getting out of control
  • I'm actually certified in a version of SCRUM. I've been on a total of one project which did it in what I would say is the correct way. Where the primary purpose was to gauge work and plan around the developers capabilities and needs, instead of having deadlines imposed arbitrarily from the top. It worked great and we delivered a useful tool in a relatively quick period with pretty inexperienced devs.

Every other time though it's a poor excuse for managers to waste time with useless metrics reporting and whip the devs into coding faster.

  • My tactic of drinking a fuck ton of coffee to help me write has backfired intensely
  • I mean stimulants are what they give you to treat ADHD. Adderall, Vyvanse etc.

Many undiagnosed adhd people self medicate with smoking and coffee.

In my experience caffeine does help, but not as much. I find tea to be better than coffee.

Nicotine was honestly the most effective outside of controlled substances, but a nasty habit so I gave it up.

  • What's one thing I can get/do to make my first "adult" apartment a bit nicer?
  • House plants, rugs, lamps and wall art go a long way towards making stuff look more adult-like and "complete".

As far as amenities go, a space heater is pretty meh and they cause a fair amount of house fires. Don't recommend it. Someone said heating blanket which I will second if you're trying to save cash.

Rice cookers are great, but honestly rice isn't that hard in a pot so I would prioritize other stuff first.

Bidets are life changing, and they help save on toilet paper which is nice.

The French press is a really cheap purchase for making coffee and quite versatile.

  • Deadlock first impressions: its good, folks, play it.
  • I like to see the moba hate here. Keep it up folks.

But yeah I have a lot of friends who have played it and they all loved it. Seems like if you like mobas it's a good game. If you hate mobas, you are not going to like this.

  • Gaming peripherals questions
  • I mean you can definitely get a headset combo for cheaper so it's not necessarily worth it unless you really like crisp audio quality. I listen to a lot of music too so it was worth it to me to save up and get a nice pair of headphones for like $120. Been using them for like 10 years.

Regardless I would say buy something with a replaceable cable. Those cables tend to go bad before anything else and it's a lot cheaper to buy a new one for $10 than replace an entire device.

  • Gaming peripherals questions
  • Fuck a headset. Mic quality is typically dog shit compared to a stand alone mic.

I recommend you buy a nice pair of quality headphones instead. You're gonna either want those or a nice set of speakers, but typically the headphones are going to be cheaper.

If you decide you want to do some online gaming or voice calls in the future, you can always buy a standalone desktop mic for like $50-100 and the sound quality will be immaculate.

  • [long rant post] Is it weird or selfish that I don't want the person who got me kicked out of my last org to join my new org??? [cw: mention of suicide]
  • 1000% valid. You've already warned your comrades so hopefully they keep that in mind. I believe in second chances but at the first sign of BS i hope you can just quietly remind people of your warning and they listen.

We had a similar issue in a local org where there was a particular organizer who was always beefing with someone. It sucked because they were actually pretty active, but was just a toxic person and when pushed back on it just got even more agitated with no self reflection and proceeded to spend days in the chat just ranting about people. Luckily everyone else wanted to talk about organizing and was being interrupted by this shit so it was easy to agree to just boot them from the org.

  • Idk I mean yeah this is about as useful as running up to your local zoo and releasing the animals. Doesn't really solve anything, except in this case it also puts a person at risk of further poverty like you mentioned. I think if you care about animal rights you can find more productive ways to spend your time.

Also you said "condone" where I believe you meant to say "condemn"
