Asexuality, aromanticism etc, and marriage fraud investigation
  • That really depends on where you are going and where you are coming from.

In general, if you are going to a place that recognizes your union (civil or not, heterosexual or not), have paperwork to back it up, and have been sharing your life as partners for a while (ie shared financial responsibilities etc), you should not have any more trouble than non-ace couples.

Believe it or not, outside of weird sexually perverted cults like the Roman Catholic Church, having sex is not a requirement for marriage.

  • Intel might be too big to fail — Washington policymakers are already discussing potential solutions if the chipmaker cannot recover
  • Listen, Intel is fucked. It’s fucked right now, and getting bought out by someone else isn’t magically going to unfuck it. Saving the company is going to take money and effort.

We can also just let it go up in flames. No skin off my back.

  • Let’s start with what we’re not doing. We’re not handing out money to private investors in the old “socializing losses privatizing profits” bullshit we’ve been doing since the nineties.

So, if there’s a compelling national security reason to keep the company alive, we, the state buy it. Then we, the state, run it. We run it in a way that benefits our interests as owners and customers.

Maybe a few years down the line we can find a way to sell it (or our share in it) in a way that satisfies our national security requirements and makes us a load of money. This is not unheard of, see the acquisition and subsequent sale of ABN AMRO by the kingdom of the Netherlands.

Maybe split it up, write off some parts, sell some others, keep others.

Or we strip maybe it’s IP, and license it out to contractors to get the shit we need.

We can do whatever. We own it.

  • On Bluesky and enshittification
  • You can actually host your own data now. There are still centralized parts, but they have been getting progressively fewer. ATproto is fundamentally a sane way to do stuff. Choosing to grow the network and the tech stack at the same time is an interesting decision, but it seems to be working.

Anyway, what keeps me on blue sky is not the tech, it’s the fact that it’s a thoroughly nice place to hang out. The nuclear block works wonders against jerks, and the focus on accessibility is very very nice.

  • If Trump wins the election thru fraud how can the democrats refute it and prove they won? Or will it just be like another Jan 6 and four years of whining like Trump?
  • I actually expect the US Military to step in. Every member is sworn to uphold the constitution. But if the constitution has been discarded, then I'd expect them to step in to restore it.

    Have you met the Oathkeepers?

If shit goes down, assume anyone with a uniform is going to throw in with the authoritarian despot.
