Bedtime Procrastination
  • Here are a few ways to prevent bedtime procrastination:

Turning off electronic devices at least one hour before bed. In a darker environment, humans produce the sleep hormone melatonin. Therefore, people should limit the light they receive before going to sleep.[15]
Taking a hot shower or bath to reduce stresses.[15]
Writing down thoughts, feelings, and experiences that stood out throughout the day.[15]
Maintaining a regular wake-up time and bedtime, including on non-working days.[2]
    Setting a bedtime routine.
Snacking on nuts, seeds, and pulses, which are sources of the amino acid tryptophan, which helps produce melatonin.[15]
Avoiding alcohol or caffeine late in the afternoon or evening.[2]
Taking melatonin supplements (but exercise caution[33])
Managing one's time by doing things early in the day to avoid staying late and losing essential sleep time.[6]
Taking Vitamin D and magnesium supplements that may help induce sleep.[15]
    Setting boundaries at work.
    Reducing internet use.[34]
Practicing time management and priority-setting skills.[35]
Using a method called mental contrasting with implementation intentions (MCII).[36]

  • Kids who use ChatGPT as a study assistant do worse on tests
  • Not everyone can afford a tutor or knows where to find an expert that can answer questions in any given domain. I think such a tool would have made understanding a lot of my college courses a lot easier.

  • Kids who use ChatGPT as a study assistant do worse on tests
  • The title is pretty misleading. Kids who used ChatGPT to get hints/explanations rather than outright getting the answers did as well as those who had no access to ChatGPT. They probably had a much easier time studying/understanding with it so it's a win for LLMs as a teaching tool imo.

  • I'm still replacing switches on my stupid Logitech MX (faulty design that's been going for many years) but once it's dead for good I will switch over to the Ploopy thumb trackball in a heartbeat.

  • That's not how it works anywhere I've heard of (and I've lived in the USA and Europe and worked in an American grocery store). Maybe if it's a refrigerated product in the US (or vandalized somehow), but that's not the case with dates.

  • I don't understand your question. GPT is proprietary and hosted by OpenAI. There are other large language models (LLM) that one can download (or even train if they are open-source or at least have a descriptive scientific paper and open training data) and host themselves, but they are not as powerful.
