  • DEAR FUCKING GOD there is no convincing you. Fuck off. Fuck all the way off. I literally said rape and rapists are not okay. I’m half convinced that you’re being deliberately obtuse to paint the position of being anti-rapist as also being obstinate and unnaproachable, and the immediate flurry of downvotes to my comments makes me wonder if you’re sock puppeting.

You do not convince others of the validity of your position by being holier than thou or condemning everyone who isn’t 100% in step with you.

How do you think serial-killers can be so prolific? They trick the people closest to them by being good in their public-facing persona, while evil when they are alone and hold power over their victims.

I NEVER said anything about rapists being redeemable, I said they are capable of good acts when they want to be.

  • Wow. Just fucking wow. How can you do completely misunderstand what I am saying?

Yes, rapists should be punished. Yes, rape is one of the worst crimes someone can commit.

What I am saying is the people who are closest to him may have a hard time separating the good person they think they know from the evil acts he has committed, and thus wash over the evil with their perception of his good.

Fuck right off with your assumption that I am defending Mastersin in any way.

  • No, you said it. Not me. If you think someone can be a good person after raping someone, that’s your call.

All I said was that in the eyes of people who know him personally it can be extremely difficult to separate the good acts he has done for them from the evil acts he has done to those he harmed. It’s a form of bias. To an observer outside his circle clearly the evil outweighs the good. To someone close to him, it may be harder to resolve.

  • People cannot fathom that humans can be capable of both genuine good and unspeakable evil.

Rape is not to be excused, ever. But someone can be absolutely benevolent in every other moment of their life beyond those acts. It’s hard to separate for some people.

E: so some jackasses in the comments seem to think that I am somehow defending rapists despite explicitly saying that I don’t here. To be clear: fuck you if you are a rapist or rape apologist.

What I am saying here is that someone can commit heinous acts in the dark, and be a totally different person in their day to day life. People closest to them may find it difficult to separate the good from the bad, and then wash the bad actions over with the good.

If you think this is some convoluted defense of Masterson or rapists in general, you are ignorant or intentionally intellectually dishonest.

  • Again. The US government is not the Ukrainian government.

The most painful thing the government could do would be to sanction Musk and his companies for taking actions counter to US foreign policy prerogatives, but then Musk would just pull the plug on Starlink altogether. So nothing will be done.

  • So the maintenance department at my job placed a cabinet to one side of their shop to stop traffic through a certain area, and someone put a printout of the Gandalf meme on the back of it.

I am tempted to print this out and add it.
