Intel finally notches a GPU win, confirms Arc B580 is selling out after stellar reviews
  • Saying it's "not a competitor to a 5080" is disingenuous. It's also not gonna be a competitor to the 5070 and will barely compete with the 5060, and that's assuming NVIDIA somehow only improves upon the 4060 by 15%, which would be their worst generational leap in like 10 years. The B580 is an almost 2025 card with 2023 performance. Its only purpose is to force NVIDIA and AMD to cut down their prices.

  • Trump rages at Biden for wrecking his plans for executions: ‘Makes no sense’
  • But not everybody is making a statement about morality. He's purportedly saying "capital punishment is bad and we should get rid of it". If you make exceptions, all you're saying is that you're in favor of keeping it around for really bad people, which is exactly where they are now.

  • Trump rages at Biden for wrecking his plans for executions: ‘Makes no sense’
  • While I'm overall glad about this, leaving 3 unpardoned inmates really corrupts the "moral stance against federal executions" justification and makes it seem like he is in favor of capital punishment but only for people he thinks deserve it. It also makes it seem like he believes it's his decision to decide who gets to live and that rubs me the wrong way.

  • Gen Z workers think showing up 10 minutes late to work is as good as being on time—but baby boomer bosses have zero tolerance for tardiness, research reveals
  • Used to be a phone salesman. Got there at least 15 minutes late every day. It got so bad that one time I got there 15 minutes early and when my boss saw me get there he shouted "Steve?! What time is it?!". Nobody cared because I outsold everyone else by so much that I was making double what they were, until the boss of my boss' boss decided to start micromanaging the branch and basically told me I would be fired unless I started showing up on time. Boomers have weird priorities.

  • I Don't See a Reason to Switch to Windows from Linux Anymore in 2025
  • Yep. 4 is a terrible sample size, I didn't even look at the results since the point I was trying to make was about selection bias, which you seem to understand so I don't know why you even thought posting the previous comment was a good idea.

I'll apologize for calling your comment stupid, though. That was unnecessarily hostile of me and uncalled for.

  • I Don't See a Reason to Switch to Windows from Linux Anymore in 2025
  • I actually upgraded to Windows 11 specifically because I was told they fixed HDR. I do have an RX7600 so it's technically "last gen" but I'm running DP (I have no idea which version but it has to be at least 1.4 because it runs 1080p at 180Hz). Washed out SDR content isn't that bad, I actually didn't even notice until I dragged a window playing SDR content to my second monitor that doesn't have HDR and the blacks looked, well, blacker. I don't doubt that it's worse on Linux, I wasn't trying to defend it. Just wanted to point out that it seems like no OS that isn't designed to run only on TVs gives a crap about the HDR experience.
