Youtube Rant from a paying customer
  • YouTube is unwatchable for me without sponsorblock so I've liked the newpipe forks that include. And on desktop I love freetube because it goes further and lets me block channels.

  • Helldivers 2 reviews start to improve after Sony backs down from enforcing PSN account linking
  • Quick reversal shows that community is proactive in recognizing good and bad actions, so that even if reviews flip to good again it can quickly become negative. So I don't think there is a need to hold off on changing reviews back to positive. Showing that the community is actively engaged is good to demonstrate.

  • Sony cancelled the PSN account linking requirement for Helldivers 2
  • This shows the power of steam reviews with it being driven by the actual community. People tried to downplay and belittle its effectiveness, but it being front and center on the store page does have more impact than there would be without steam reviews. If there were no steam reviews the PSN requirement would have been pushed through with it being easier to ignore some random internet comments on social media than a store page.

  • Dual headphone jack smartphone scores high in new reparability video
  • Space seems overblown when Samsung ultras fit in an entire spen that takes up way more space, and most phones do not have a stylus that can be stored internally. So I don't buy the excuse of space. Always has seemed like more a company excuse to sell accessories.

  • "PSN isn't supported in my country. What do I do?" Arrowhead CEO: "I don't know"
  • Yes I would say so. If game doesn't show itself able to stay around for years and shuts down early like other live services games then I'd personally have considered it a waste of money due to it becoming unplayable compared to non live service games.

Most successful live services games are free too, so that's an additional uphill battle for paid live service games. It depends on if someone is willing to spend full retail money on what may be a temporary experience. I'm not one of those.

For paid online only games I don't rush in. If it seems like it will stick around after steep discounts that's when I'd be fine with spending money. If it dies before then I'm glad I didn't waste money on it. No need to be offended that I take the same approach to paid live service games as I do regular games. You can choose to pay for early access if the experience is worth it too you, and if it is worth it you should.

  • Helldivers 2 now has the most negative reviews among all paid games
  • If people could play without it then it wasn't required. Especially if the majority of the time the game has been active it hasn't been. So in the eyes of consumers it wasn't required. EULAs or whatever is only something companies clutch onto.

  • Helldivers 2 now has the most negative reviews among all paid games
  • Sony seems like the babies to me blundering a nice surprise success and good will from the community with an unnecessary change. It's more their issue than mine. I just lose out on a game. Them on the other hand have PR to work out and potential consequences for employees. All for a change that didn't need to happen. Stupid business decision.

  • Helldivers 2 now has the most negative reviews among all paid games
  • Usually it's forced at launch so if people don't like it they can refund immediately. This is an odd situation where it went from being skippable to suddenly a requirement. People got used to not needing another account for the game.9

  • Launching A $60+ Game Seems Like A Bad Idea Right Now
  • Already aware of trying to capture price tiers. Pointing out that perception of cost is still generally the same despite inflation and that out the door lower prices that the competion have sometimes led to more financial success than that strategy.

  • Helldivers 2 Steam page reviews are now "Mostly negative" with "mixed" overall (old reviews are switching too)
  • What else is going to increase the chances of PSN reversal or send a message that companies need to be more careful in the future in handling sudden forced requirements like this. It isn't going to be boycotts because most don't follow up.

  • Launching A $60+ Game Seems Like A Bad Idea Right Now
  • There comes a price point where it'll push more people to wait for discounts, and when that happens it makes it more likely those people will end up waiting even longer as the hype dies down.

There's stuff like inflation and so on, but it's also affected people's buying power which will lead to them starting to cut down luxury goods.
