TL is pretty good. IPT although has a bad reputation but has served me well over past 8 years. Besides that i would recommend MAM if you're into ebooks/audiobooks. They have invites open on Wed, Thur, Sat, Sun. and rutracker for music.

I have been using self hosted headscale with tailscale on a very similar setup as yours, and it has ACL for defining access and permissions.
I think encrypted backups won't be an issue with this setup. And one would also need to have some friends for this to work.

Public services: my social network(hubzilla), Email(mailcow), Matrix chat, Peertube.
Private: my media (jellyfin, audiobookshelf, calibre, homeassistant.
I enjoy the freedom that comes with this and its like having your own home on the internet. I have a very modest setup but its enough to host my friends and family so nothing fancy like k8s. Just a refurbished optiplex running docker :)

@PlutoniumAcid have you tried their AIO package? it is much easier and has better instructions.
nextcloud deck, integrates well with other tools, can attach files, notes easily and has an awesome mobile app.
