YES! I have done my utmost to ignore these neanderthals my entire life because I grew up on 4chan and learned "do NOT feed the trolls" early. But apparently every news reporter and Facebook boomer since 2014 did not get the memo, and -waves at the general state of the world- here we are.
You can just scroll away? There is no Kendrick Lamar content on Lemmy, and if you're talking about seeing it on other corporate social media, you can filter/block it out quite easily.
I saw this guy's Tiktok on my FYP a couple of hours after he posted it, and in the comments he was DOUBLING DOWN on voting for Trump. He's now either deleted them, or they've gotten buried.
Either way I don't think these guys are getting it, even as they lose everything.
Ngl, Mastodon is closer to feeling like Lemmy than Twitter. I know it's heresy to say here, but Bluesky is probably the closest feeling to old Twitter, including the random 3am hole pics on "What's Hot" lol. I scroll there, but I don't post bc I find talking on Lemmy a nicer experience tbh.
I also find it interesting that you find IG Reels a better algo for you than Tiktok, because most people say their Reels algo is a MESS. You must have curated your follows and likes pretty well.

I feel that. I find it funny that the retro gaming communities here are more active than the regular ones lol, unless a big gaming company does something shitty (as they are always doing).
I once thought about making a post about how funny it is that Godzilla, the embodiment of the horrors of nuclear war, and Hatsune Miku are now in a game doing the griddy together. But then I realised I didn't want to get absolutely roasted for playing Fortnite with my friends every now and then.
All the power to you! I think I also like it here for similar reasons as you. I can get a lot of advice and perspectives from people older than me without being called a slur.
For example: I learned about Iran-Contra from someone who was actually living during it and explained to me why exactly it was seen as Carter's failure, when I have the power of hindsight and history and can see how it was clearly manufactured. At no point was I called a bleeding heart or libtard during that explanation, even though the person made it clear they voted for Reagan. It was nice!
