White polypore in southern France?
Right now I’m in southern France. Seeing these fungi for the first time. Unfortunately I don’t have my books/equipment with me, so no chance for me to get an ID … Does anybody want to venture a guess of what they are? Growing right beneath a Pittosporum sp.

Some chrysocystidia of Friday's Pholiota squarrosa. (KOH squash mount)

Find of the day for me: Pholiota squarrosa
Three rather huge clusters directly below a Picea abies. Just in time for #FungiFriday !

A large find for me: Sarcodon imbricatus
This one was around 20cm in diameter and stood out quite a bit. The spores on the other hand are comparably tiny... (Scale bar in micrograph is 25µm).

@Truaxe sure, here on a dark background
A somewhat more uncommon find here in western Norway
Two days ago I found a nice Phellodon niger, also known as black tooth. After making a spore print I thought the specimen didn't yield any, because I could hardly make them out. Turns out they are just tiny: 3-5µm! After cranking up the magnification I got a nice picture of them, too.

Teliospore 1000x Magnified in Phase Contrast
Yesterday evening I made this nice picture in phase contrast of a teliospore of Gymnosporangium clavariiforme I found and posted earlier. Measures roughly 85 x 14 µm. Quite proud of it, since this is one of the first usable images I got with the new microscope 😉

Now this is an interesting fungi!
It is called Gymnosporangium clavariiforme or more common "Tounges of Fire". Around a month ago they popped up all around where I live.
The fungi infects a juniper to form the characteristic "Tounges of Fire" which spread spores. These need to land on a hawthorn as a second host. The spores produced on the fruit of the infected hawthorn then need to find a juniper again and the cycle repeats.

Wanted to share my nicest spore print to date. It came out exactly as the underside of the hat that you can see in the second picture. Most likely Protostropharia semiglobata, but need to confirm the spore size.

Moved over to the fediverse today. Lets see if this works here 🙂
For my introduction a picture I took yesterday of Scuttelina sp. through the stereo microscope. The genus seems to be "complicated", but as soon as I can get my hands on my compound microscope I'm hopeful that I can identify the species.
